The first week of February is almost over, meaning county tournament play is in full swing. The Union County Tournament is set to tip off next week and is full of guards who are slated to have big tournaments. Here are the Union County Tournament guards to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2344521' first='Micah' last='Gordon'], 5'10 PG Plainfield 2027

[player_tooltip player_id='1889492' first='Najai' last='Hines'] has been a monster for the Cardinals since becoming eligible, while Gordon is the man to watch on the perimeter. The 5'10 guard has a tight handle, which he uses to get to his spot on the floor and finishes in a variety of ways. Gordon has a nice touch in the mid-range and wastes little motion in his release. He finds his open teammates in the halfcourt and uses his quick hands to get deflections on defense. Gordon has the potential to put up points in bunches and will be a guard prospect to track throughout the county tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1729825' first='Trey' last='Lewis'], 6'3 CG Roselle Catholic 2026

[player_tooltip player_id='1595673' first='Jalen' last='Grant'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1963393' first='Tyrease' last='Hunter'] have been having strong seasons for the Lions, but Lewis has done a little bit of everything for them. The 6'3 guard has a good first step, which he uses to blow by his defender and can finish through contact around the rim. Lewis is more than just a slasher as he has a good shooting stroke and can knock down jumpers in bunches. He is a strong rebounder and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Lewis has scored at least 20 points in each of his last three games and is looking to continue his scoring streak over the next couple of weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2504886' first='Malik' last='Moore'], 6'3 SG/PG Union Catholic 2028

[player_tooltip player_id='1411630' first='AJ' last='Altobelli'] has been running the Vikings' offense since his freshman season, while Moore is one to watch during the county tournament. The 6'3 guard plays with composure on the ball as he rarely gets rattled by on-ball pressure and rises up nicely on his jumper. Moore knows how to finish around the rim and has a good release on his jumper. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is an underrated passer. Moore is averaging nearly 18 points per game over his last four games and should continue to put up those numbers in the county tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2201953' first='Jayden' last='Johnson'], 6'1 CG Elizabeth 2027

Johnson has had a breakout sophomore season for the Minutemen as he paces them in scoring. The 6'1 guard has a clean shooting stroke and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Johnson is more than just a shooter as he can also get to the rim off the bounce and finish around the rim. He slides his feet on the defensive end and can find his open teammates in the halfcourt. Johnson has five 20-point games this season and is looking to add to that total in the county tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1943560' first='Zach' last='Epp'], 6'3 CG Westfield 2025

[player_tooltip player_id='1859529' first='Tyshawn' last='Pearson'] has had big games for the Blue Devils this season, but Epp has been key for them over the last couple of weeks. The 6'3 guard has a nice handle, which he uses to get to the rim and finishes well around the basket. Epp can also score in the mid-range and sets his feet before he shoots. He is a tough on-ball defender and works hard for rebounds. Epp has four double-doubles this season and should add to that total in the county tournament.

Other Prospects to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id='1595682' first='Jayden' last='Holman'], 6'1 PG Linden 2026

Jack Sponheimer, SG Scotch Plains-Fanwood 2025

[player_tooltip player_id='2812475' first='Carl' last='Matala'], 6'1 SG Union 2025

Ryan Fay, 5'11 CG Oratory 2026

Dmitri Dulorie, 6'2 SG Rahway 2025
