Around the State: December 30

While I was focused on scouting specific games on Monday we wanted to keep you up to date on what is going on all around at other events.  Here is that in Around the State: December 30!   Jack Tosh Holiday Classic (York)   Glenbard South got a good win against Palatine 52-38.  Their top prospect sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2125637' first='Jacob' last='Fuller'] notched 16 points in the win.  Anestis Hadjistamou also with a big game of 15 points.  Palatine once again was led by stud offensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='2823585' first='Tony' last='Balanganayi'] with 10.   Andrew topped Stagg 55-45.  Scott Dinnon had another good game with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  [player_tooltip player_id='2399378' first='Mason' last='Moore'] went for 15 points and [player_tooltip player_id='2125664' first='Malik' last='Mahmoud'] went for 10 points.  Stagg was led by Isaiah Jimenez with 13 points and Omar Barakat with 12 points.   Wheaton North scored a 68-42 victory against Hinsdale South.  Wheaton North got 14 points out of Henry Schlickman and 13 points from William Channing.  Matthew Beamer also had 10.  Hinsdale South's Gemarion Alexander notched 17.   St. Patrick won 71-57 against Wheaton St. Francis.  [player_tooltip player_id='2422874' first='Anthony' last='Favia'] had a big outing with 20 points while [player_tooltip player_id='1469251' first='Cooper' last='Kavanaugh'] also excelled with 17 points.  St. Francis was led with 11 points by both Mark Balaskovits and [player_tooltip player_id='2382444' first='Tanner' last='Hozian'].   Glenbard East got a 74-52 victory over Timothy Christian.  [player_tooltip player_id='2411580' first='Jacob' last='Marynowski'] went for 20 points for Glenbard East while [player_tooltip player_id='2415521' first='Danny' last='Snyder'] had 17 points.  Devin Kraft notched 14 points as well.  For TC it was [player_tooltip player_id='2875743' first='Marc' last='Gamble'] with 17 points and Adam Roland going for 10.   Three big time scorers for Downers Grove South including 18 points each from [player_tooltip player_id='2432728' first='Keon' last='Maggitt'] and Wyatt Wawro in their 62-60 win against Batavia.  Their 2026 star [player_tooltip player_id='2323275' first='Adam' last='Flowers'] was close behind with 17 points.  Cornell commit [player_tooltip player_id='1295579' first='Jax' last='Abalos'] popped 19 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.   Highland Park beat York in OT 61-59.  [player_tooltip player_id='2420451' first='Simon' last='Moschin'] had a monster performance going for 29 points and 4 assists in the win.  Also got help from [player_tooltip player_id='2538944' first='Alex' last='Kriser']'s 13 points.  For York it was [player_tooltip player_id='2403932' first='Connor' last='Fitzgerald'] leading the way with 20 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2403831' first='Brendan' last='Carroll'] had 16 points.   Rolling Meadows is impressive in win over Lake Forest 64-47.  Marquette commit [player_tooltip player_id='1385299' first='Ian' last='Miletic'] led the way with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 dimes.  [player_tooltip player_id='2321417' first='Lazar' last='Lazarevic'] continues to produce with 17.  Skilled post [player_tooltip player_id='2538856' first='Hudson' last='Scroggins'] had another big game with 22 points for Lake Forest.   St. Ignatius bounced back with a win over Christ the King 67-47.  [player_tooltip player_id='2323283' first='Chris' last='Bolte'] had 21 points while Northwestern commit [player_tooltip player_id='1385292' first='Phoenix' last='Gill'] notched 19.   Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic   Maine South captured 5th place over Burlington Central 43-41.  [player_tooltip player_id='1552479' first='RicoAntonio' last='D'Alessandro'] led the way with 16 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2403368' first='Jack' last='Sladky'] had 10 points.   Schaumburg's 1-2 punch of [player_tooltip player_id='1766477' first='Zion' last='Young'] inside and [player_tooltip player_id='1598733' first='Jordan' last='Tunis'] outside led them to  win over a good Rockford Auburn team 52-47.  Young had 14 points and 8 rebounds while Tunis notched 16 points.  Rockford Auburn star [player_tooltip player_id='1845353' first='Amir' last='Danforth'] had 14 points and 10 rebounds while Kaiden Dozie netted 21 points and 8 boards.   Oswego East took home the consolation championship 67-53 over Marian Catholic with a big outing from top 5 junior [player_tooltip player_id='1552438' first='Mason' last='Lockett IV'] who had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.  [player_tooltip player_id='2105274' first='Damien' last='Lewandowski'] also chipped in 12 points.  [player_tooltip player_id='2321398' first='Zack' last='Sharkey'] had 12 points for Marian Catholic.   St. Rita won over Morton 59-46 as they got 24 points from freshman Eze Nwagwu in the win.  [player_tooltip player_id='1598694' first='Donovan' last='Johnson'] led Morton with 17.   St. Charles East prevailed over Plainfield East 67-42.  [player_tooltip player_id='2423490' first='Gavin' last='Szerlong'] led the way with 14 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2426000' first='Marco' last='Klebosits'] had 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Andrew Wolfsmith also notched 11 points.  [player_tooltip player_id='2217972' first='Kobe' last='Jordan'] was the top scorer for Plainfield East with 12.   Wheaton Academy beat Morgan Park 57-48 without their star sophomore.  Standout senior [player_tooltip player_id='1401824' first='Tyler' last='Smith'] had 13 points, 5 dimes, and 4 steals.  [player_tooltip player_id='1915208' first='Sam' last='Swoboda'] recorded 18 points in the victory.  Scoring combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2734410' first='Jacque' last='Lewis'] notched 16 points for Morgan Park.   Duster Thomas Hoops Classic (Pinckneyville)   In the championship game between host Pinckneyville and Benton it ended on a foul 75 feet from the basket where Colorado State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545126' first='Docker' last='Tedeschi'] hit all three free throws to lead his Benton team to a 51-50 win.  He finished with 22 points and 6 rebounds.  [player_tooltip player_id='2385167' first='Riley' last='Bauersachs'] was the top player for Pinckneyville as the Rend Lake commit had 12 points.   Murphysboro topped Mounds Meridian 53-50 as they were led by [player_tooltip player_id='2381456' first='Cade' last='Brooks'] with 16 points.  [player_tooltip player_id='2823657' first='Kemmeon' last='Hale'] had 11 points and 7 boards.  Antonio Flenoid Jr went for 10 points and 16 rebounds for Mounds Meridian.   Carlyle is having a really nice season and picked up a good win 65-40 over Jerseyville on Monday.  Rhettick Steinkamp had 19 points while Hayden Huels went for 17.   Okawville jumped out early and won 56-46 over Woodlawn.  Laden Shubert had 21 points while their ranked big man [player_tooltip player_id='2105204' first='Aidan' last='Anderson'] went for 15 points and 18 rebounds.  Bright future for their sophomore PG [player_tooltip player_id='2383995' first='Braylen' last='Turner'] who had 14.  Woodlawn got 16 from [player_tooltip player_id='2383987' first='Luke' last='McKay'] and 12 out of Ian Bennett.    Olney beat Roxanna 50-38 behind a big game from Arjay Keller with 20 points and Rex Hallam chipped in 13.  Top football offensive lineman Casey Thomann had 10 points and 5 rebounds for Olney.  Roxanna got 13 points from Sean Mayberry and 10 out   Christopher put the clamps on Trico with a 50-17 win.  Carson Hobbs had 20 in the win.   Chester beat Salem 55-43.  Devante Placio had 18 points while Kolton Jany scored 12.  Salem was paced by [player_tooltip player_id='2423207' first='Kaeden' last='Bevolo'] with 16 points.   Steeleville won over Mt. Carmel 59-40.  For Steeleville it was Canon Ruby with 29 points in the victory that was the star with Hayden Sternberg behind him with 12.  Couple in double figures for the Aces in [player_tooltip player_id='2422948' first='Jack' last='Webb'] and Owen Blake with 10 and 11 respectively.   State Farm Holiday Classic (Bloomington)   Peoria took home the championship of the large school division 61-44 over Romeoville.  Top 5 senior [player_tooltip player_id='1766506' first='Leshawn' last='Stowers'] led the way with 17 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2734391' first='Fenix' last='Foy'] chipped in 16.  For Romeoville it was senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1385302' first='Damion' last='Porter'] Jr. who had 19 points in the loss.   Rock Island captured third place against Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin 65-56.  The big three led the way with Benjamin Goeh (19 points), Deven Marshall (15 points), and Jae'Vion Clark-Pugh (18 points).  For SHG it was shifty sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2455399' first='Myles' last='Montgomery'] who dropped 19 points in the loss.  [player_tooltip player_id='2446278' first='Tereik' last='Hurd'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2532352' first='Terrion' last='Wallace'] each had 13 points.   Pecatonica took home the small school crown with a 67-54 victory over St. Joseph-Ogden.  [player_tooltip player_id='1874696' first='Cooper' last='Hoffman'] had 22 points to lead the champions along with 13 points from [player_tooltip player_id='1874685' first='Brody' last='Black'].  Coy Taylor from St. Joseph-Ogden had 18 points in the loss.   El-Paso Gridley took home 3rd place of the small school division 52-43 against Normal U-High.  [player_tooltip player_id='2321403' first='Micah' last='Meiss'] dropped 20 points.   Maine East   In the championship game at Maine East it was Hoffman Estates over Sandburg 72-59.  Daiquan Daniels and [player_tooltip player_id='1385294' first='Joey' last='Hernandez'] led the way with 17 points each.  William Johnson ironically also had 17 points as Sandburg's top scorer.   Carmel defeats Grayslake North 51-43 in the 3rd place game.  [player_tooltip player_id='1552461' first='Ethan' last='Matz'] had 23 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2538983' first='Ethan' last='Henderson'] went for 12 points and 12 rebounds.  For Grayslake North it was Uros Mitrovic with 16 points and David Magnuson with 11 points.   Other   Edwardsville beat Ladue to move to 11-1 on the season with a 70-68 victory at the Don Maurer Holiday Tournament.  Herb Martin won the MVP award.
