It is SUPER early for ranking freshmen but you have to start somewhere so we are launching the Class of 2028 rankings this week. There are some super talented kids at the top of this class and several kids who we have heard of but haven't been able to see and evaluate yet. Those players were put on the Watchlist for now. Here's a breakdown of the top ten kids in the class in our very first rankings for 2028.

Josh is a very athletic guard who is hyper competitive and plays with a really high motor. The immediate concern with Lindsay will be figuring out his role with a veteran Tiger roster this season. With his playmaking and scoring, surely Josh will get on the court early and his willingness to play defense should keep him out there.

Jordan is more like 1A than he is #2 in the class right now but every player gets a spot and Josh got the edge for right now. Mitchell is smooth and athletic with a high skill level. Jordan will likely start or be the 6th man for a Male roster that has it's eyes on the 7th region title. Long term, Jordan could be a D'Angelo Russell type of guard if he hits his ceiling as a prospect.

Jackson is my pick for the most potential in this class right now but he's got a long way to go to hit his ceiling. Jordan checks every box in terms of length, athleticism and upside. His skill level needs to keep improving but he's already making some strides in that department and his jumper has started to look more smooth. He's definitely going to lead this class in dunks this season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Andrew lead the top 10 in scoring and rebounding as a Freshman. Terry has great size and plays with a high motor. He can out jump most players at his position which allows him to sky for rebounds as well as being very active on the offensive glass. If his jumper is consistent this season, Andrew could be the top ranked player in this class by the end of his freshman season.

Brady is a player I have seen mature over the last few years since I live 5 minutes from Great Crossing and watch a lot of games there. Orem has come a long way in his development and continues to raise his overall skill level to the point that he could eventually be a face up 4 man as he gets more comfortable off the dribble. Brady will still be a role player this season but he and Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2091803' first='LJ' last='Holman'] are the future for the Warhawks.

Boogie could be the best player in this class long term. He could also be the 20th best player. He's got so much potential and I'm eager to see how he develops over the course of his freshman season. With his athleticism, he could be a D1 wing in the very near future. I definitely want to see more of him in his freshman season.

Conner is a very solid point guard who takes and makes tough shots. He's a good passer with a tight handle. He got thrown into the fire for GRC this summer and played pretty well. Morguson's future is probably tied to how well he can get past elite athletes and how well he stays in front of them on the defensive end. Don't be surprised if he's one of the most productive freshmen in central Kentucky.

Burton has been playing varsity for a couple of years already and is one of the most known quantities of this class right now. When he played at 8th grade state this spring, Grayson outplayed many of the names ahead of him on this list. Since then, I've seen Grayson several times and he's been up and down. If he can get more consistent, he's a top player in the class for sure.

Tyson may be one of the better "sleepers" in the class right now. He's grown and is very bouncy. He has a consistent jumper that looks good upon release. Duke's biggest area for growth right now is developing more of a "dog" mentality and using his gifts to make more of an impact on both ends of the court. If he figures that out, Tyson's ceiling is very high.

Stuart is lesser known than some players on this list but has the ability to get hot and score a bunch of points in a hurry. Everett reminds me a lot of former Catholic center Reece Potter in the sense that he's tall and long and keeps growing but that he likes to float around the perimeter at times. That's not a bad thing as Ev can knock down threes consistently but he does need to develop some more in between game where he's more active attacking the bucket.
