Jack Kohnen Jack Kohnen 6’5″ | SF Slinger | 2027 State WI had an impressive freshman season at Slinger, and that form looks to be carrying over to this spring with Team Herro. He already has next level size on the wing, and looks more explosive than I remembered from the high school season. Against Wisconsin Crusaders he threw down an explosive dunk in transition, physically moving the hoop in the process. He’s a solid outside shooter, but wasn’t afraid to play physical inside either. Rather than settling for outside shots, Jack was utilizing his size advantage to take smaller wings into the paint and score over the top with a baby-hook.
Donovan just goes out and plays hard on every possession. Combine that with a strong and agile 6’7 frame, and you get a walking double-double. His effort on the glass allowed him to pull in rebounds in bulk on either end of the floor, and offensively he showcased a quick second leap to go right back up for two points. Davis runs the floor hard, showed a nice face-up game out of the high post, and was scoring with efficiency inside. Team Herro plays a massive starting 5, and with that Donovan was often tasked with defending against smaller wings. In doing so he showed impressive lateral mobility at his size which should help him continue to be a versatile defender over the next few years.

Not sure there was a more productive player at the 15u level than Bryce Austin Bryce Austin 6’2″ | SG Racine Lutheran | 2027 WI . He simply dominated in the two games that I watched on Saturday. Standing at 6’2 he possesses some size as a wing/guard, and the skillset to score at all three levels. Bryce was hitting some tough mid-range shots and knocked down his open threes at a nice rate, but was at his best attacking the basket. Bryce was nearly impossible to stop from getting to the rim, as he can quickly change directions on the ball, has excellent body control in the air, and the possesses the strength to play through contact. Also showcased a bit of explosiveness with a pair of open floor dunks. Bryce was already a key player for Racine Lutheran’s varsity team, and will be a name to track over the next few years.

Dariontez certainly doesn’t play like a freshman. His composure and feel for the game gives him the presence of an upperclassman on the floor, and he was seemingly one step ahead of his opponents at the 15u level. The lefty guard showcased a dangerous pull-up jumper, and the change of speed to get into the lane and finish over size with a floater. Defensively he showed great instincts to make plays, whether it was stepping in to take a charge or jumping a passing lane to pick up a steal. Dariontez seemed to have his fingerprints all over the game, constantly making plays on both ends of the floor for his team.

Jalen Brown Jalen Brown 6’5″ | SF Wauwatosa West | 2027 State WI wrote his way into the Tosa West record books with his assist numbers as a freshman, and that passing ability once again stood out over the weekend with Team Herro. At 6’4 he was running the point for a team loaded in size, and his ability to see the floor and deliver passes over the top of the defense was huge. Jalen was also a menace in transition because he could utilize his long frame to get all the way to the rim, or draw in a defender and hit an open teammate streaking to the basket. Jalen is a talented player who could easily look to score in bunches every game, but with all of the talent around him he does a great job of getting everyone involved helping lead to wins.
Zare started most of the season for a Racine Park team that advanced all the way to the sectional finals, and brings plenty of varsity experience to the Racine Truth 15u team. In the winter most of his scoring came attacking the basket, but on Saturday he showcased a comfort to stretch the floor and knock down open jumpers. Still has that quick first step and fluid athleticism to attack any gaps to the rim, and does a nice job of finishing with either hand. Zare is a scrappy defender who’s going to pressure the ball hard as he loves forcing turnovers and getting out in the open floor. Did a nice job of looking ahead to pass the ball up the floor leading to some easy buckets for his teammates.

Team Herro EYBL just didn’t have anyone quick enough to stick in front of Dakori on Sunday afternoon. Parker is lightning quick with the ball and was able to consistently get to his spots on the floor to make plays. Displayed a nice pull-up jumper with good elevation to get his shot off over the Team Herro size. Parker is already a proven player at the varsity level, and that confidence carried over to this past weekend as he was constantly in attack mode, looking to create for himself and his teammates. At 5’10 he doesn’t currently have a ton of size, but makes up for it with a strong frame that allows him to compete against length.
