Expert Analysis

Monroe excelled at the full-court press, using traps to create chaos and force turnovers. He played with high motor, hustling end-to-end throughout the game. He’s an athletic guard who hit the occasional three-pointer when set but mostly cut to the basket.

Another guard with a challenging first step to stay in front of. Heavy driver who finds slivers of openings in gaps and is determined to get to his spots. Tallied a number of times that he didn’t have a good angle and still finished in traffic. Jab step drive, catch in the paint lefty floater, and a runner over more height. Defensively makes his mark applying zero gap pressure as well. Possessed good reads out of BLOB actions. Affects game positively on both ends.

Dariontez certainly doesn’t play like a freshman. His composure and feel for the game gives him the presence of an upperclassman on the floor, and he was seemingly one step ahead of his opponents at the 15u level. The lefty guard showcased a dangerous pull-up jumper, and the change of speed to get into the lane and finish over size with a floater. Defensively he showed great instincts to make plays, whether it was stepping in to take a charge or jumping a passing lane to pick up a steal. Dariontez seemed to have his fingerprints all over the game, constantly making plays on both ends of the floor for his team.
