However, many of the top teams and prospects from the Hoosier state also compete on other circuits and and at events that we haven’t had the chance to cover yet. Aside from having boots on the ground for a while at IndyBall, these next couple of weekends between the Hoop Group Indiana Jam Fest and then the annual Bill Hensley Memorial Run ‘N Slam will be our first chance to see a lot of these players since their high school seasons ended. However, our job at Prep Hoops Indiana is always to keep an ear to the ground and trusted eyes in the gym even when we can’t have boots on the ground ourselves. That means we are constantly getting information even from events we aren’t specifically covering. This weekly series, Grassroots Whip Around, will help to provide exposure and coverage to some of Indiana’s top emerging prospects that we DID NOT get a chance to see live, but have heard good things about from trusted sources. Let’s dive on in.
Fresh off winning a Class 2A state championship with Brownstown Central High School, Coomer has had a strong start to the spring with Kyle Guy Elite 2025. The 6’5″ guard is an excellent catch-and-shoot threat which he proved at IndyBall scoring 29 points and connecting on seven three-point shots in a game. Coomer currently holds an offer from Goshen and should be highly sought after by small college programs in and around Indiana this grassroots season.

One of the top Class of 2027 prospects in Indiana, Craig is ranked #14 in the class in our initial prospect rankings released a week ago. He gained valuable experience as a freshman at Warren Central and has parlayed that into an excellent start to the spring with Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2027. Craig continues to prove himself as one of the top shooters in the class. He scored 24 points in the championship game at IndyBall and averaged 20 points per game this past weekend.

Howard continues to be a major stock-riser in the Class of 2025 proving himself as one of the more dynamic playmakers in the class. The 6’0″ guard is excellent with the ball in his hands consistently showing his ability to score it from any spot on the floor while also creating for his teammates. He had some big games for Progeny 2025 at the Pitt Jam Fest this past weekend and will be in action again this coming weekend at the Indiana Jam Fest.
After leading Avon High School in scoring as a sophomore while helping lead them to a Sectional championship, Minnett is playing well this spring for Kyle Guy Elite 2026 which included a couple of big games at IndyBall. He shoots it very well from beyond the arc and has flashed some explosiveness off of the bounce when attacking the rim. Really like his all-around skill level on the offensive end of the floor.
A super high-upside prospect in the Class of 2025, the 6’7″ forward from Penn High School has had a strong start to the spring for Indy Heat Red 2027. He scored 20 points in a game at the Storm Class this past weekend with a few other very good showings. Price has all of the physical and athletic tools you would want for a prospect at his age.

Several Division I programs have already gotten involved and offered this 6’8″ forward out of Jeffersonville High School. However, he should continue to see that list grow substantially this spring and summer. Singleton is off to a great start with Indiana Elite Team Tradition 2025 putting up some big numbers at the Made Hoops Midwest Mania event. He is very comfortable with his back to the basket, rebounds at a really high level, and plays with an impressive physicality and motor.
One of the most impressive, highest upside prospects in the Class of 2026, Smith is already starting what promises to be a breakout spring and summer. The 6’8″ wing from Plainfield High School turned a lot of heads at the Made Hoops Midwest Mania event finishing the weekend with games of 23 and 27 points respectively. Division I coaches will be following him closely on the Pro16 circuit with Grand Park Premier 2026.
A versatile 6’6″ wing/forward from Northwestern High School, Sims had a great showing at the Pitt Jam Fest last weekend with the Hoosier State Prospects 2025 and they will be back in action this weekend at the Indiana Jam Fest at the Pacers Athletic Center. Sims had a 16-point, 12-rebound performance in Pittsburg showing off his ability both as a right hand driver and catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc. Really like his two-way upside.

Another Hoosier State Prospects 2025 player to watch this coming weekend at the Hoop Group Indiana Jam Fest will be this 6’0″ point guard from New Albany High School. Treat is a true point guard with all of the requisite playmaking ability for the position, but he can also score the basketball. He gets to his spots consistently off of the dribble, can shoot it from deep, and is a very willing and able passer.

A strong, athletic guard playing Indiana Game National-2 this spring and summer, Upshaw is a guard that has flown under the radar some to this point. The 6’0″ guard wasn’t on the Andrean varsity roster due to transferring over from Munster, but should experience a breakout grassroots season. Had a big weekend averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds at the Chi-Town Tip Off.
Warfield had a very good junior season for the Anderson High School Indians averaging 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. That has already led into the spring where he had strong showing at the Storm Classic last weekend with Indy Heat Red 2025. The 6’3″ guard is extremely athletic and is among the best in the class at getting to the rim off of the dribble. Definitely one for college programs to take a look at this weekend at the Hoop Group Indiana Jam Fest.
