We begin with Team Takeover National’s 17u squad coached by Chuck Henry. We tapped in with the team at a practice last week at DC’s Archbishop Carroll and came away impressed with the depth and versatile skillsets of the roster. Interested to see how the rotation shakes out!
Guards:
-A quick, defensive-minded, distributing point guard with good feel playing up on this 17u team. Clark’s steady play-making, defense, and shooting ability should make him a valuable piece of the rotation
Highlights
-Will be interesting to track his development this spring and summer as a scoring point guard playing up with this group. High level defender, shoots the 3 well and distributes to rollers off the bounce. Might get the most paint touches of any guard on the roster.
Highlights
-The consummate defender and teammate joins this TTO National team to immediately set the tone at both ends of the floor with his energy and execution. A willing passer and driver, he’s also capable of locking up most guards with his ability to get under his matchup and ball-hawk any time they put the ball on the floor. Capable of hitting C+S threes in rhythm.
Mo Tanedo
Mo Tanedo
-Tanedo embodies both the pure point guard and pesky defender, playing fast at both ends of the floor to maximize production. Good feel, strong, C+S shooter, solid floater in the paint, and can find teammates with a wide array of different passes
Amari Brice-Johnson
Amari Brice-Johnson
– Flat-out scorer that was awarded All-MET Honorable Mention this season as a junior. A shifty 3-level scorer, Brice-Johnson gets downhill in a hurry but can also hit shots off the bounce with range. His + wing span and timing allow him to block some shots that you wouldn’t expect at his size, uses that length well to finish around the rim.

– Athletic combo guard that can really fill it up from 3 levels, scored 1500 points at Charlotte Catholic in NC before transferring back home to Mt. Zion. Offensive versatility as a scorer and play-maker make him difficult to guard
Wings:
Doran Clausell
Doran Clausell
– Clausell is a sleeper prospect in the 2025 class that could turn heads this summer with his size and skillset. Super athletic, can shoot it, handles the ball well enough to run point and make reads in the PnR
Tremain Rowles Jr.
Tremain Rowles Jr.
– Probably the biggest blow-up candidate on the team, I expect Rowles to make a name for himself as a 3+D wing with good size and IQ. Efficient with his dribble, he gets to his spots and makes decisive moves with the ball. His most marketable ability though is the shooting, when he gets in a groove he is capable of going on personal double-digit runs from beyond the arc.
Forwards:
-Refreshing to see a player who doesn’t shy away from traditional big man responsibilities, happily doing the dirty work as a shot-blocker, play-finisher, and screen-setter. Great athlete with a good first and second jump, the skillset is growing each time I see him.
– Flowers is a really intriguing tweener, guards 3s better than 4s but is working to eventually be able to guard 3-5. 3+D shot-blocking prospect with the physical tools to turn some heads this summer.
Highlights
– Prototypical wing, strong slasher with good feel that knows where to be at both ends of the floor. Can finesse his way to the rim but usually utilizes his size and frame to slash to the rim. Range has extended comfortably out to 18 feet, with the touch and form to indicate long-term shooting upside.
