-Clark took some serious strides over the course of the season to provide a scrappy on-ball defender for a Cadets team that played in the WCAC championship and won DC States. Clark got under his matchup effectively before ball screens arrived at the top of the key to enable him to fight over ball screens and force the ball to the sidelines to generate turnovers and disrupt offensive flow. Our scouts also liked his contributions as an effective helper, using a quick set of hands to swipe away steals and force tie-ups in the paint for his team. His ability to collect steals or long defensive rebounds then quickly get the Cadets into their transition offense was crucial over the course of the season.

Senior Guard Geremy Clark had a big day for St. John’s. Geremy hit a couple of circus shots at the end of the shot clock, one of them being a tough free-throw line floater with his right hand. Geremy had some outstanding finishes, and he did a great job using his body in mid-air to finish. Geremy finished with a team-high 23 points.

Clark is a jet quick river rat point guard who does a great job cementing his fingerprints all over the game. He lives in the paint and knows all the right times. The southpaw showed he can score from behind the arc. Clark uses his close proximity to the ground to collect steals and turn defense to offense. He is a prospect who should be on low majors big boards if they need a floor general.

Geezy looks to be in for a big season with St. John’s as one of the featured guards in the backcourt. They will call for more of his ability to create for others now more then ever. Geremy’s blend of speed and ball control is special and crucial for the speed that the Cadets play. Over the summer I have seen Geremy start to control his pace a bit better and learn when to speed things up offensively. He draws major attention with every drive to the basket and makes easy kickouts to shooters. I’d like to see him operate the pick-and-roll a bit better this season, but he has improved with his general decision-making, not forcing the ball to the rim-runner as much as previous times I’ve seen him out. Geremy is starting to realize the potential he presents to the defenders due to his quickness and willingness to find the open man.

-Really liked the confidence and consistency in his shooting motion over the summer as the rising senior is making it rain from beyond the arc. The footwork on his shooting–especially off of movement– has also improved quite a bit, as evidenced by a corner 3 off the BLOB that he smoothly sent through the direct center of the basket. His ability to hit shots but also serve as a connector for the Cadets should make him a valuable piece for an SJC team that figures to be the preseason #1 pick in the WCAC.

-Clark’s improvements to his shooting from beyond the arc have added a new dimension to his game as he is now making teams pay for going under ball screens with made shots off of movement. This improved shooting also allows him to play off the ball as a shooter that can also attack side ball screens when the ball is reversed to him from the opposite side, taking advantage of his creation abilities. Like the strides that he is taking defensively to use a very quick set of hands to collect steals both on or off the ball. Want to see him reject ball screens or come off flat if he doesn’t have enough space to come off as he can sometimes get into turnover troubles when he tries to squeeze through tight gaps in the defense that aren’t always there. Clark still looks to be in store for a larger role in an SJC backcourt that needs his leadership and play-making to be successful in the WCAC.
