Brown’s name is a familiar one, after a productive summer with Team Takeover landed him several offers and put him on the radars of college coaches across the country. He’s grown to about 6’1 and his athleticism/burst have developed well throughout the course of the season. His ability to be a threat to score as well as create easy opportunities for others will be important as the WCAC Playoffs loom, as coaches have more time to study film and focus on game-planning against specific players to disrupt an opponents’ gameplan.
Lawrence “Turk” Brown is another prospect that made a name for himself this summer and has carried that momentum into the season, scoring 37 points in the last game of the regular season last week. The shifty floor general has the Lions’ offense humming with the return of Xander Alarie Xander Alarie 6’8″ | SF St. Andrew’s | 2024 State MD from injury, showing a good feel for when he needs to shoot and when he needs to get his teammates going throughout the season. As Brown goes, the Lions go. They will need him scoring at a high level while taking care of the rock in order to challenge Sidwell in the MAC tournament this week.
A scrappy player that we have liked since his 7th grade season in the PYBL, Carson is a lightning-quick and effective point guard. He excels at forcing turnovers and getting his team going in transition, showcasing his ability to finish around the basket, hit perimeter shots, or find the open man. Ireton will need bench production to knock off Good Counsel in order to land a matchup with #2 seed Gonzaga, good bet that Carson comes through for his team.

Possibly the most well-rounded prospect in the DMV, Collingwood will need to fill the stat sheet for McNamara to beat O’Connell and have a chance at PVI in the next round. A 6’5 wing that can guard 1-4 at the high school level, his defensive versatility allows McNamara to junk the game up with double teams and traps that get them going in transition. Turning in efficient performances from the field while minimizing his turnovers will be huge for the Mustangs.
Clark has stepped up and produced in an expanded role for the surging Cadets this year, and they will need his steady play-making and scoring off the bench to knock off DeMatha in the WCAC opening round this weekend. The shifty lefty does a great job of rewarding his bigs in transition with over the top feeds, as well as finding open shooters on the wing. A stat line as simple as 10 points and 5 assists could go a long way in helping this SJC team advance through the playoffs.

Barrett has been a consistent 2-way force for a surging Spalding Cavaliers group. Bouncing back in his second game back from injury, Barrett’s 3 point shooting and on-ball defense will be key to Spalding advancing past Mt. Carmel in the MIAA semifinal. If he can hit perimeter shots, finish well in transition, and generate turnovers–Spalding has a chance to upset the top seeds in the MIAA and BCL tournament games.
