Julian Burgdolf
About Julian
Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Burgdolf turned in a strong season for SSSAS, averaging 13.2 points and 4.5 assists per game while serving as a steady presence in the backcourt. The California (PA) commit plays with a high basketball IQ and a mature understanding of tempo, consistently making the right reads with the ball in his hands. He is a solid perimeter shot maker who can stretch the defense, and he changes speeds effectively to create separation off the dribble. With good quickness and poise as a primary decision maker, Burgdolf keeps the offense organized and balanced, blending scoring and playmaking in a way that should translate well to the next level.

Really like how Burgdolfd did whatever was needed for the good of the team. He does a great job of steering the ship for his SSSAS (VA) squad and is an extension of the coach on the floor. He showed that he didn’t need to be a feature scorer to have an impact on the game. I like how he time in and time out found his teammates for scoring chances with his passing ability.

Burgdolf is a heady lead guard who hands out nearly 4 assists per night for the Saints. In addition to his passing ability, the senior is a solid shot maker, changes speeds well, has good quickness and is a reliable decision maker with the ball in his hands.

has been one of the best guards at this event. He has scored the ball at an elite level on all three levels with a high degree of difficulty. The variety of where his offense has come from has been really fun to watch. I love what Julian does as a facilitator, and he is a player that you trust to have the ball for a large portion of the game. SSSAS has had two outstanding bigs in which the offense has run through them the past few years. Their guards may be the strong suit of their team now.

-Probably one of the tougher shot-making performances that I’ve seen from the rising senior as he hit runners in the paint, movement threes, floaters going across the key, and reverse pivot faders in the paint when the defense over-pursued him to the rim. Burgdolf’s feel as a passer within the halfcourt is a deadly combination with the muscle memory when moving from dribbling to executing a quick one-handed dart with either hand to an open teammate. Defensively, Burgdolf continues to leverage his size to get underneath ballhandlers to force dribble pick-ups or turnovers to disrupt offensive flow.

a few days ago for St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, and he upped his play today. Julian’s IQ and overall feel for the game feel like it’s on another level from other players on the court. Great at navigating through screens and plays like a true lead guard. He is a reliable three-point shooter and can get his own bucket. Julian had 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in SSSAS win over Pallotti.

. Julian is a great passer and a terrific shooter. He does a good job playing without the ball when asked of him as well. Julian is a pesky defender and knows how to run an offense. Julian had 17 points and 5 rebounds.

-One of the more cerebral point guards in the area, Burgdolf should be in for a big summer after a nice growth spurt has him shaping up to be a solid prospect. A heady playmaker that plays with good pace and excels in ball screen situations, he can also play off the ball attacking closeouts or knocking down open looks from the perimeter. Defensively, Burgdolf is fundamentally sound and is hard to headfake off his spot– often disrupting driving paths to the basket and forcing dribble pickups or collecting steals. Love the way he sees the floor in the open court or in the halfcourt getting his team into their offense.

-Burgdolf is really coming along as a pure point guard that is finding the right spots to also score the basketball at a pretty efficient clip. The son of a coach, Burgdolf is efficient with his dribble, takes care of the ball, always is scanning the floor looking for passing options, and is taking and making more stepbacks and pull-ups from the perimeter. After growing a few inches this summer, he takes the reins as the full time starter and engine for the Saints at both ends as a floor general that controls the pace of the game. Burgdolf hit a baseline reverse through contact , scored with nice touch on a floater in the key, and hit a tough hesi off the catch to get him to a pull-up 18 footer that splashed through the net. If he continues to add more explosiveness OTB and can put on more weight to dish out contact as a POA defender and as a ballhandler– he can raise his profile as a PG to watch in 2026.
