These guys don’t get as much love as older, more established contributors at the HS level, but are showing why they’ll be household names soon enough. Check out five guys that have impressed from the Raleigh area, take a read below to learn more about their season-long stats and play styles.
Moore has been one of the top freshmen in the state, averaging 16 PPG and shooting almost 60% from beyond the arc. He’s an impact playmaker who is calm and composed beyond his years with the ball in his hands, showcasing great vision and composure to deliver the ball where it needs to be. His percentage shows he’s an outstanding shooter, one who can knock down shots off the dribble, the catch, or moving off of penetration without the ball in his hands. He’ll be a major name to watch in the central part of the state.
Highlights
Page is a name that has popped up much more lately on the regional and statewide radar with his performances at the John Wall Invitational. He’s a lefty wing that is oozing athleticism and sports a thin, long frame that helps him attack the paint and the boards. He’s averaging over 17 PPG and almost 10 RPG as he is becoming a star in front of our eyes at Broughton. Keep an eye on him this grassroots season as he surely will gain more national attention as well.
Blanchard has become an important piece for Beddingfield so far this season, averaging 11.4 PPG as a combo guard within their offense. They’re 10-4 so far in a resurgent season, and he’s part of their young talent influx. He’s very smooth with the ball, showing he’s not afraid of pressing defenses and breaking them with ease. Solid shooter that knocks down the open one and is good making shots off the catch. Looks like he can be a defensively oriented talent too with his scrappiness and determination.
Jefferson has been part of the dynamic duo of freshmen for NRCA this year, joining Caiden Jenkins Caiden Jenkins 6’4″ | SG North Raleigh Christian | 2027 State NC as impact guys. However, Jefferson is leading the team with 14.4 PPG, 4 RPG and 2.2 SPG. He’s a volume shooter who so far has made plays primarily inside the arc, from the mid-range area as well as getting to the rim. Also has shown off some good length and defensive intensity on that end of the floor as he’s racking up steals and forcing the ball out of people’s hands.
Woodard is a burly freshman forward averaging 11.4 PPG, 6.8 RPG and over a block a game at East Wake High. He’s physically very mature for his age, with a frame that looks like it might fill out a little more and end up with him being a very good sized wing. He’s a solid finisher around the basket, as well as an active rebounder on both ends of the floor. You can also count on him to try and alter shots on defense, and his size and length helps him naturally block a lot of them.
