Garfield was named the 3A champion last season after a completely dominating season, going 25-2 on the year and only losing to Eastside Catholic. They were an absolutely stacked team, having Jaylin Stewart (UConn), Emmett Marquardt (Eastern Wash), Myles Daymon (Bellevue CC), Jamari Jackson (Edmonds CC), and 2025 guard Legend Smiley Legend Smiley 6'5" | SG Garfield | 2025 State #98 Nation WA who is one of the top players in the entire state. They dominated the state tournament, winning by an average of 14 points a game. O’Dea made it to the 3A title game as well, despite being the number 5 seed of the tournament. Amare Jackson (SV MBB), Miles Clark (Air Force), Mason Williams (Eastern Wash), ’24 guard Noel “Bud” Davis is a high level point guard who had a big impact as well, along with one of the best ’26 players in the state, Brian Webster Brian Webster 6'3" | SG O'Dea | 2026 State WA .
This season I expect a lot of the same teams to be in the mix. O’Dea again will be one of the top teams as I mentioned Noel Davis Noel Davis 5'11" | PG O'Dea | 2024 State WA (’24 guard) and Brian Webster Brian Webster 6'3" | SG O'Dea | 2026 State WA (’26 guard), they also have Malcolm Clark Malcolm Clark 6'7" | SF O'Dea | 2024 State WA (’24 wing), Breylon Webb Breylon Webb 6'7" | SF O'Dea | 2025 State WA (’25 guard), and Doni Burkett Doni Burkett 6'2" | PG O'Dea | 2026 State WA (’26 guard). That’s not just it, as Isaiah Cunningham Isaiah Cunningham 6'4" | SG O'Dea | 2025 State WA (‘25 guard) can score at will and has a lethal jump shot. Mt Spokane will be a top team with Ryan Lafferty Ryan Lafferty 6'5" | CG Mt Spokane | 2024 State #320 Nation WA (’24 wing) returning. Eastside Catholic is again a team to keep an eye on with top player in the state Jacob Cofie Jacob Cofie 6'10" | PF Eastside Catholic | 2024 State #97 Nation WA (’24 wing) coming back for his senior year. He will be joined by Nate Krohn Nate Krohn 6'4" | SG Eastside Catholic | 2024 State WA (’24 guard), Yeabsera Aklog Yeabsera Aklog 6'10" | PF Eastside Catholic | 2026 State WA (’26 wing), and others. Garfield is another team who will compete with the best within the state. Ajayi Simmons Ajayi Simmons 6'7" | SF Garfield | 2024 State WA (’24 wing), Jamari Harris Jamari Harris 6'5" | SG Garfield | 2024 State WA (’24 guard), and of course ’25 guard Legend Smiley Legend Smiley 6'5" | SG Garfield | 2025 State #98 Nation WA , who could be the best player regardless of class. Mountlake Terrace and Gig Harbor are some teams to watch.
Like last article, I am going to make a prediction for each class on who I think will win the state championship. These are purely WAY TO EARLY predictions, but like I said, sometimes those are fun. My state champion prediction is Eastside Catholic pulling out the state championship win over a very, very talented Garfield team.
