Preview: Coach Cho Preseason Clinic with Sharman White

On Friday, October 12, players from all across the state will descend upon the campus of Portland Community College Sylvania campus for a special pre-season clinic put on by former Lake Oswego High School head and University of Portland assistant coach Marshall Cho. The honored guest in town for the clinic will be current USA Basketball Junior National Team Coach Sharman White, and all in attendance will not only get the opportunity to get coached by him but also learn about the USA Basketball Gold Standards and potentially get on the radar for future involvement with Team USA.
A number of top-ranked players will be in attendance ready to absorb knowledge to improve their games and compete against the best. From the Class of 2025 will be Mountainside guard Peyton Reyes Peyton Reyes 5'9" | PG Mountainside | 2025 State OR , whose high-energy style of play will likely be contagious. There will be no shortage of big men at the clinic as sophomores Ty Read Ty Read 6'9" | C Sheldon | 2026 State OR from Sheldon and Ryder Zanon Ryder Zanon 6'8" | C Central Catholic | 2026 State OR from Central Catholic will be in the building. Fellow Class of 2026 guard Quentin Neal Quentin Neal 6'2" | CG Centennial | 2026 State OR from Benson will be one to keep on eye on as well.
Also in the gym will be two of the top five incoming freshmen in the Class of 2027 in Cascade Christian guard Avery Huston Avery Huston 6'2" | CG Cascade Christian | 2027 State OR (ranked #2) and West Linn guard Pat Vialva Jr Pat Vialva Jr 5'10" | PG West Linn | 2027 State OR (ranked #3). Joining them will be Jesuit guard Major Williams Major Williams 5'9" | CG Jesuit | 2027 State OR – son of University of Oregon and Benson High School legend Orlando Williams, and Shay Thompson Shay Thompson 6'3" | SF Sunset | 2027 State OR of Sunset.
While the Class of 2028 is still a bit in the distant future, the opportunity to see some of the top eighth graders in the state will definitely be of value. Some of the top names to look forward to seeing include big men Luke Read from Eugene and Michael Ratcliffe from Wilsonville and guard Carter Lockhart of Gresham.
