Some questions that fans might want to know include who the top small town prospects in the state are. In this article, we’ll take a look at 2026 Ohio small town studs. We already profiled the class of 2024 and 2025 today.
Plantz is a big time talent who helped lead to an impressive 12-2 conference record as a freshman. Basketball runs in his family as his cousin Jacob plays for Lake Erie. Very skilled for his size with the ball in his hands, look for Plantz to continue to progress over the next few years.
One of the top athletes in the 2026 class from Ohio, Washington has an elite first step and explosiveness. Having an excellent season on the gridiron for Margaretta, expect even bigger things on the hardwood for the 2026 duo of Washington and Judah Keller Judah Keller 6’0″ | CG Margaretta | 2026 State OH this winter.
Highlights
Another small town northwest Ohio athlete who excels at multiple sports, Elwer makes noise during the winter on the hardwood and the spring on the diamond. A prospect who plays with good pace, is tough and makes shots, Elwer checks a lot of boxes that coaches look for in a point guard.
Another multi-sport athlete, Albers has had a big football season for a Minster squad that went 8-2 against a very difficult schedule. Able to use his size and mobility as a tight end in the blocking and receiving game, it’s easy to see how his highlights on the gridiron translate to the hardwood. Having already taken a handful of visits this fall checking out different football programs, expect his recruitment to pick up on the gridiron very soon. Despite the football interest, he’s also participated in multiple basketball prospect camps at MAC programs as well this summer.
Highlights
The last prospect continues the theme of multi-sport athletes. Toombs is wrapping up a football season that saw him help Fredericktown qualify for the playoffs with a week 10 victory over rival Centerburg. Another big bodied tight end similar to Albers who can make an impact in both the passing and blocking game, Toombs has the size and athleticism to excel in multiple sports. Expect a huge winter on the hardwood for Toombs who should be one of the most dominant interior forces in the KMAC.
