Albers is one of the rare athletes in Ohio to receive legit Division I recruiting interest for both football and basketball. Usually it’s quite obvious what sport a top athlete will play at the college level but Albers has taken visits to Kentucky, Cincinnati, Toledo and Miami (OH) for football this fall and plans to take a visit to Eastern Michigan this weekend for basketball. Albers has helped Minster get off to a 7-1 start this season and they play conference rival Marion Local who is trying to break a state record for consecutive victories. We’ll see if Albers and the Wildcats can snap the Flyers winning streak and get back in the MAC conference title race.

I went probably almost an entire calendar year without watching Albers on the hardwood and was excited to get the chance to see him again with All Ohio Red 16 U down in Memphis a couple weeks ago. I thought Albers had done some nice work on his body, growing a couple inches, slimming out and showing quicker feet. Getting Division I interest in both football and basketball, Albers is a unique recruit who will likely draw interest for both sports until he makes an official decision on what sport he wants to focus on at the next level. One of the top small-town prospects in Ohio’s 2026 class on the gridiron and the hardwood, Albers will be a household name soon if he isn’t one already.

Another multi-sport athlete, Albers has had a big football season for a Minster squad that went 8-2 against a very difficult schedule. Able to use his size and mobility as a tight end in the blocking and receiving game, it’s easy to see how his highlights on the gridiron translate to the hardwood. Having already taken a handful of visits this fall checking out different football programs, expect his recruitment to pick up on the gridiron very soon. Despite the football interest, he’s also participated in multiple basketball prospect camps at MAC programs as well this summer.

Another multi-sport athlete, Albers, like Greer, also stands out on the gridiron. Albers has good size and finishes around the paint with his strength. I thought Albers showed good touch with either hand at the rim. A key for him will be improving his explosiveness off the ground to help him finish at the rim and block more shots than he already does. Catch Albers with Phenom United this spring and summer.

One of the biggest players in Ohio’s 2026 class, Albers stands at around 6’6, 6’7 and is a force in the paint. Albers runs the floor well and got an easy layup by beating his defender to the bucket in transition early. I was also impressed with a few post moves his showed when he was able to catch the ball on the block. Albers is also a football stud and has a body more equipped for that sport currently, Albers improving his vertical pop to score over players as tall as him and block shots will be key if basketball is the sport he chooses to focus on but expect Albers to receive heavy college interest in both sports over the next few years.

Albers will be one of the most dominant interior forces right when he steps on the floor in the ultra-competitive MAC. Albers has the size and interior skill to score efficiently from the paint as a freshman. Usually, rural northwest Ohio has a couple studs every year and Albers looks like he’ll be one of the best in 2026 from that part of the state.
