Genoa is currently 13-0 and should be 14-0 ahead of a massive Division V battle with Keystone on Saturday. Plantz is the main reason for this success as the 6’7 big has been dominant in the paint all season. A prospect who burst onto the scene as a freshman, Plantz has been a steady contributor, but has taken a noticeable leap starting in June. With his improved athleticism and confidence around the rim, Plantz looks like a prospect who could play right away for an Ashland program that is currently second in the GMAC.

Plantz is a recent Ashland commit, and I really like that program for him and his development. He is listed at 6’8 and has an extremely long wingspan. Throughout the years, he has gotten stronger and knows how to use his body more. He has his game figured out as he can be a stretch forward that can bang in the post, but also step out. He finds himself being a walking mismatch in most cases on the court. I have always been a fan of Plantz and his ability.

Plantz had an excellent summer for the Ohio Buckets as he was one of the top rim protectors in the EYCL. During the month of June, I also got to see some offensive expansion of Plantz game, looking like a primary hub of the offense for Genoa. Already committed to Ashland, Plantz has the frame and skillset to play immediately at the college level.

Few players helped their stock at Midwest live as much as Plantz did and he was productive again for the Ohio Buckets Vs EYBL competition as they went 2-0 with wins over Meanstreets and Team Herro on Tuesday. I caught the win over Team Herro where Plantz ended with 6 blocks! That sort of toughness in the paint should help him be a priority for regional scholarship programs and could get some looks at the Division I level as well.

Another one of the biggest stock risers of any player on Friday, Plantz had 49 points and 23 rebounds through two contests. Plantz was assertive in the paint with multiple dunks and finishes at the rim in the game I caught. I also liked that Plantz was confident to stretch the floor from the mid-range to 3-point line area of the court. One of his best plays all night came on a lefty drive and finish against a strong shot contest. If Plantz can continue to play with this toughness at both ends of the court in July, he’ll be sure to add to his college interest over the next month.

One of the more productive forwards in Ohio’s 2026 class during the high school season, I liked the aggressiveness that Plantz showed this weekend. Playing strong on rebounds, loose balls, setting screens and even throwing down a couple dunks in the half court, Plantz was making an impact in the paint on both ends of the court. I expect scholarship programs to start to really prioritize Plantz this summer as he heads into his senior high school season.

Plantz who started the game off the a slower start left a major impact on the game in the 2nd half to add an exclamation point to Genoa (OH) victory. He is a country dirt road mile long forward who uses his length to shag rebounds like an outfielder and block shots like a windshield wiper. He has great timing when going up to alter shots. Plantz showed he could score In a variety of ways around the painted area of the floor. He showed that he can be stretch 4 with his ability to score on the perimeter. He had two three pointers. He added 20 points with 12 coming in the 3rd quarter. He even showed off his athleticism by finishing above the rim. I would like to see Plantz run the floor every time instead of just strolling up as a trailer. He tends to get caught as a ball watcher and was a step slow at times on defensive rotations. Plantz is someone that should be on the radar of low and mids up and down the eastern seaboard if they are looking for a versatile forward.

Plantz came through and showed out yesterday! He is someone who was a top player on his team and he proved he can lead a team against some of the best. This kid has great size and has the ability to play inside and out. He can step out on both ends because of his athletic ability and shot. He has also turned himself into a really good forward who can bang in the post. He has good moves, footwork, and touch around the rim. He is a really good rebounder as well. Just can do it all.

Plantz had one of his best performances I’ve seen him play on Sunday. As a rim protector, I thought Plantz was very active at contesting any shot near him and blocking his fair share. Offensively, he did a nice job finishing in the paint with a couple post moves and reverse layups. Also finishing with his left hand and flashing some perimeter shooting, Plantz was one of the bigger stock risers of the day.

Plantz is someone who passes the eye test and looks the part. He is listed at 6’8, long, and moves well. He has been more comfortable playing inside at the forward position than he has been a real mismatch issue because of his ability to spread the floor. He is a true modern-day forward who can guard any position on the floor and is difficult to guard. He has matured physically every year and made it a strength of his game. Plantz is someone who is a next-level player.
