The move: 11 to 9
Phillips continues his ascent up the rankings by breaking into the top 10 following a good summer with the Barnstormers. He’s an intriguing young wing prospect who can defend multiple positions with his size, athleticism, and length. He has really improved as a ball-handler over the last year, which in turn has improved his ability to create looks for himself and his teammates. He may never be a knockdown shooter from the arc, but his stroke is good enough that it’s an aspect of his game that at least needs to be respected. He averaged 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks a game as a junior for the Lancers and he’ll be even better this season.

The move: 14 to 11
Winkel had some explosive scoring and playmaking games last season for the Jaguars, and then followed it up with a really good spring and summer with Kingdom Hoops , showing the ability to play with and without the ball, play solid on-ball defense, and contribute on the glass. He may never be a great perimeter shooting threat, but he’s good enough in that aspect that it needs to be respected, which opens up hi dribble penetration ability, which is where he really thrives. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists as a junior for Centennial.

The move: 19 to 14
Few players in the state helped themselves more throughout the summer than Arnaman did, as he put together a dominant run with Kingdom Hoops EYCL, routinely putting together great showings against EYBL teams. A versatile scorer who can get to the rim, stop on a dime and kill you from the mid-range, or step behind a screen and burn you from deep, he’s one of the best shooters off the dribble in the state, and he showed that his impressive numbers as a junior didn’t just come because of the competition he plays against at West Branch. He has played his way into legitimate scholarship-level looks.

The move: 31 to 23
Williams has always been really good around the rim and on the glass, showing an explosive second jump that he uses to dominate as a rebounder. What he showcased throughout the summer was an improved face-up game, showing the ability to step out to the arc and consistently knock down shots, as well as the ability to create off the dribble from the perimeter. That added part of his offensive game makes him really dangerous, because you have to put a bigger defender on him or he’ll eat you alive on the block. And when that bigger defender gets dragged out to the arc, he’ll now be able to blow by them and get to the rim or into the teeth of the defense and to an open shooter.

The move: 37 to 29
An athletic lead guard who has committed to play his college ball at NAIA Morningside, Grant is able to put constant pressure on opposing defenses with his combination of speed, footwork, and ball-handling. He sees the floor really well and loves to get his teammates involved, and he’s a great finisher around the rim. He put together a good summer with Arena Basketball Club and will be the focal point of the Black Raiders’ attack this season after a junior year in which he averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
Reed Pfaltzgraff | PG | Bondurant-Farrar
The move: 43 to 31
Pfaltzgraff is a really interesting player who is receiving a lot of interest from Division I programs as a wide receiver prospect in addition to going on Division II visits for basketball. I’ll be curious to see which direction he ends up going, but if it’s on the hardwood, a program will be getting an athletic lead guard who puts constant pressure on opposing teams on both ends of the floor with his size, length, and athleticism. At 6-3/6-4, he sees the floor really well, is a talented passer, and he loves to finish above the rim. He’s a reliable shooting threat and an active rebounder on both ends of the floor.

The move: 48 to 38
A future Upper Iowa wing, Pflaughaupt is an ideal small-school 3-and-D prospect, and he should fit in perfectly with the Peacocks. He has great length on the perimeter, moves well without the ball in his hands, and is a really good team defender and shooter off the catch.

The move: 45 to 40
Readus is a talented scorer who is at his best when he’s playing downhill and using his speed and athleticism to get to the rim, where he’s a good, creative finisher. He has a pretty good mid-range game and is a capable playmaker. His athleticism on the perimeter and his ability to create off the dribble make him an intriguing prospect. He averaged 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists as a junior at Davenport Central.

| PF | Dallas Center-Grimes
The move: 49 to 41
Cahill may be a tiny bit undersized for a typical big man, but he makes up for it with his explosive athleticism. He’s a bouncy forward with a great second jump that he uses to control the glass on both ends of the floor. He’s a good rim protector who rotates well and is a good all-around team defender. He’ll give a small school a rim-running, paint-protecting forward who can provide a lot of value as a defender and rebounder.

| SF | Kennedy
The move: 53 to 46
Krumrei struggled at times early in the season last year for Kennedy as he adjusted to his new team following his transfer from Linn-Mar, but this is a really skilled offensive weapon with great size and length on the wing at 6-6. He was good throughout the summer for Kingdom Hoops and earned an offer from Truman State as a result, an opportunity he recently jumped on. He’ll provide the Bulldogs with a lengthy shooter who can create off the bounce and contribute on the glass.
