Phillips has had a bit of an up-and-down year for the Lancers, but he played really well in their substate semifinal win over Linn-Mar, scoring 16 points on 7-12 shooting (0-1 3P, 2-5 FT), 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. A long, athletic point-forward who handles it and sees the floor at a high level, he can create plays off the bounce for his teammates and has the size to see over the defense. He can defend multiple positions, competes on the glass on both ends of the floor, and is a really good finisher around the rim.

Another long, versatile two-way threat for the Lancers, Phillips had 13 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block against Assumption. He continues to improve as a shooting threat, going 2-4 from behind the arc and showing a release that has sped up a bit, and he uses the increased threat of his jumper to open up his dribble penetration. At 6-6/6-7, he covers a lot of ground in a small amount of time and is able to get to the rim when he wants, but he’s also a willing passer who sees the floor well. He provides a lot of versatility on the defensive end, rotating well and showing that he can defend on the perimeter when switched onto smaller ball handlers.

Phillips is another high-upside player who may just be scratching the surface of his potential, which is a scary proposition considering how productive he was last year, averaging 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks a game. He’s a long, athletic wing at 6-7 who can handle it, create for his teammates, defend multiple positions, and knock down shots off the dribble or the catch.

Phillips may be one of the highest upside players in the state, a long and athletic 6-7 wing who can score from all three levels. He has really improved over the last 12-18 months, turning himself into a dangerous weapon off the dribble as well as a good enough shooter that it’s an area that needs to be respected. He’s a good playmaker and all-around defender who had one of the best summers of any player in the state. He averaged 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks a game last season for the Lancers.

A long, athletic wing who uses his size and length to his advantage on both ends of the floor, Phillips put together a really good summer with the Iowa Barnstormers on the NXTPro circuit. He recently picked up offers from D2s Augustana (SD) and Truman State, programs that have recruited Iowa at a high level lately. He’s a versatile defender with the size and strength to defend bigger bodies, and the athleticism and length to defend on the perimeter. Offensively he’s at his best when he’s playing downhill and getting to the rim, but he’s a good enough shooter that it needs to be respected, with the potential to become a strong threat from deep.

is a special talent. Even though he may not have had his best game statistically, he was still able to impact the game and help lead his team to the win. Reed can score off drives and slashes to the basket, but also has a pretty outside jump shot. He was also very good defensively, and matched up well against the opposing teams best athletes. He showed that he can compete with some high level guys in his class.
