This class took a hit with several top ten players opting to leave for prep schools but the class still has a good depth of talent in it. Here’s a look at the best shooting guards in this update.
Chenault is one of the most athletic kids in Kentucky, period. With his vertical jumping and ability to be a hound on defense, Aveion is one of the best two way guards in the class. Aveion’s likely to be a Power 5 wide receiver in college but he could easily play D1 basketball as well.
A high IQ prospect who can score on the low block, in the midrange or from three, Green is one of the best prospects in Lexington. He needs to continue improving his overall athleticism and showing he can guard kids like Chenault who have a quick first step but Andersen projects as a scholarship player.
Lyons is back from injury and has his eyes set on leading Taylor County to Rupp Arena. Layken is an efficient scorer who can get a bucket at all three levels and consistently gets to the free throw line. Look for him to be a top 5-10 player in the loaded 5th region this winter.
Loy gets overlooked a lot because Adair doesn’t get a ton of coverage at the state level but opposing coaches would tell you Connor is one of the best in the region. Capable of scoring a lot of points in a short amount of time, Loy is starting to draw interest at the D2 level and looks like he should be a scholarship level player in college.
Highlights
Malachi had been incorrectly placed in our 2024 rankings but we have now remedied that mistake and he starts at 44th overall in his proper class. Coleman is a high IQ scorer who is good at getting to his spots and being able to score over bigger defenders. A well rounded prospect, Coleman will have a chance to impress with a Manual team that had a really good summer.
