DeSales was impressive with a big-time shooting display in an early morning victory over Marysville. With quick ball movement and a well-spaced floor, the Stallions are a tough defend in the summer. Their top shooter was Walker who moved well without the ball and has a quick release once he catches it with time and space. Walker is one of the top scorers in the CCL and should have a productive senior season for a DeSales squad looking to compete for a conference title.
Green was without a couple marquee players at the team camp, but Taylor and Nikola Bundalo Nikola Bundalo 6’9″ | PF Western Reserve Academy | 2025 State #22 Nation OH had big games to lead them to a win over Lima Sr on the main court. Taylor is a tough high school player who just helps you win. Grabbing a bunch of key rebounds and communicating on defense. As a point forward type player, Taylor sets the table for the Bulldogs and had a bunch of assists throughout the day. With a full squad, Green has the talent to compete for the Federal League title this winter.
Highlights
Bishop Ready and Upper Arlington played a tight game and the new look Ready Knights have some fresh faces ready to contribute. With guards Andreas Gordon Andreas Gordon 6’1″ | CG Bishop Ready | 2025 State OH and Micah Germany Micah Germany 6’1″ | CG Bishop Ready | 2024 State OH stepping in with Schaffer on the wing, I like the pieces that are on this squad. Schaffer is an impressive athlete and he made some impactful plays defensively. A long wing, Schaffer finished a couple times at the rim by either cutting or attacking a closeout. The entire Bishop Ready squad had quick ball movement and Schaffer typically found the open man to set up good shots for his teammates.
One of the top risers this spring, Kendall recently received his first offer from Findlay and is set to be one of the top players in southeast Ohio. A skilled big, Kendall put the team on his back in a comeback victory over Licking Heights. Making an and-1 layup with three seconds left to get the win, Kendall is a competitor in the paint. Check Kendall out this July with Nova’s Ua Rise squad as they compete in Atlanta during the first live period weekend.
Gahanna was another team that opened some eyes with their balanced scoring and unselfish play. Reynald was the top individual performer on their team with his quickness and athleticism in the open court. Tough to stay in front of, Reynald was able to get into the paint when he wanted to and that opened a lot of things up offensively for himself and his teammates. Also knocking down some open jumpers, Reynold showed a diverse scoring game. Expect Reynald to be one of the top point guards in central Ohio this winter.
Centerville is reloading with a new look squad and the Greenberg twins are going to be a key part in their success this winter. Ethan was knocking down shots from everywhere on Friday with confidence, hitting 3-pointers from the wing, corner and top of the key. Centerville is a tough out in the summer with how disciplined they are defensively and how little they turn the ball over. This team has a bunch of new faces getting action and the Elks are hungry to prove they’re still one of the top teams in Ohio. If Greenberg continues to shoot like this from 3-point range he will open up some eyes this winter.
Medina has a strong group of seniors ready to contribute this season and Beech was the standout of their group. Improving as an athlete since the last time I watched him play, Beech had some impressive moves when attacking the basket. The lefty is a big-time shooter and fits the fast-paced Medina system perfectly. I think Beech is a really intriguing small college target and should be getting looks from top Division III schools around the region and scholarship opportunities as well.
