Prep Hoops Florida scouts Allen Pettigrew, Josh Cutler and Ross Van De Griek were on the grounds of the event. Here is who stood out on Day 2
The 6-4 rising senior guard showed some flashes as he displayed a lot of quickness on the attack to the basket. Torres displayed toughness and physicality on the defensive end where he was forcing the opposition into taking a tough shot. His development has continued to evolve and has huge upside going into his senior season.
Highlights
The 6-6 wing took complete control of the game for Westminster Academy especially late in the game. Wimbley finished with 20 points in a loss to Olympia. He used his strength and length to his advantage and can handle the ball like a guard.
The 6-1 rising junior guard is one of the sharpest 3-point shooters in the state. In the game against Northeast (Oakland Park) Darner hit seven 3-pointers in route to his 25-point outburst. Darner also showed some flashes where he was getting his teammates involved dishing out some crisp passes to open teammates.
The 6-6 rising senior wing is a top-tier three level scorer who can facilitate as well. His ability to finish around the rim was exceptional as he finished with either hand at a high rate. Blount knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 34 points in a win over Boyd Anderson.
Highlights
The 6-7 rising junior wing is an all-around difference maker when he is out on the floor. Lewis plays with length and brought super athleticism. He was also rebounding at a high level as well as finishing above the rim with authority. His defensive presence was also sensational with his shot blocking and rim protecting as he finished with a near double-double against Cypress Bay.
The 6-5 wing didn’t take long to catch my eye on Saturday night against Bell Creek Academy. Buchanan has some great instincts when he is out on the floor as he displayed his ability to be a true three-level scorer. His effectiveness on the court took a lot of notice as he’s drawn attention from several D2 schools so far this summer.
The 6-6 rising senior is returning from a knee injury and showed some athletic presence including a few dunks against Alonso. His efficiency on the defensive end with his defensive rebound prowess with his length. His ability to guard multiple positions was also the key and his ability to shoot from the perimeter has also spoke volume on his game.
