Jordan has been mentioned in Prep Hoops articles for years now but he’s just now starting to play his best basketball. After battling through growing pains and several minor injuries over the last couple of years, Mabe is 6’8 and capable of switching 1-5 on defense and can put the ball on the floor on offense. One of the most effective shot blockers in the state, Jordan has excellent defensive timing and his offensive game continues to improve.

Melo is one of my favorite players to watch in the state, regardless of class. He puts on an electrifying show and rarely disappoints. At 6’3, Boone is a freak athlete with the ability to lock down on the perimeter on defense as well as being a three level scorer on offense. I used to think he wasn’t a great shooter until I watched Boone hit 6 threes in the regional tournament. He has a D1 offer now but I’m not convinced he shouldn’t have offers from EKU, WKU, Murray State and be getting calls from Kentucky and Louisville.
A point guard who excels in pick and roll reads and knocks down threes at a high level, Huff projects to be a D1 prospect. Playing alongside Trent Noah Trent Noah 6’7″ | SF Harlan County | 2024 State #139 Nation KY , Maddox will have plenty of coaches watching him play this summer during the Scholastic Live Periods next month. A couple of good weekends could see offers coming his way.

Rice has missed a large portion of the AAU season after suffering a broken hand in April but should be ready for the scholastic live periods and July AAU. Rice is easy to knock because of his status as an undersized 4 man but he plays so hard and dunks everything he can get his hands on. Those sorts of attributes are what coaches are looking for and why I would be quick to offer Lawson if I were coaching.

It’s easy to say “but he’s short” when talking about Cayden but he’s a pass first point guard who can sit down and guard and knows how to orchestrate an offense. One of the biggest reasons that Reed makes my list is because so many of his peers love playing with him. That says a lot when a player is universally loved. Especially a point guard. If Braxton Beverly can play at NC State, why can’t Cayden Reed Cayden Reed 5’9″ | PG Mason County | 2025 KY play D1 basketball?
