One of the most skilled scoring guards in Kentucky, Reed had an excellent offensive performance to lead his team to a win in what was a thrilling contest. I thought Reed did an excellent job of stopping on a dime and knocking down shots off the dribble. Tough to stay in front of, Reed drew nine fouls and helped seal the game at the foul line. Active defensively as well, Reed got five steals and played all 32 minutes. Earning his first college offer from Kentucky Christian postgame, Reed has completely changed the trajectory of Montgomery County since being eligible and has them two wins away from lifting the state title trophy.

If there were an award for MVP of the last 6 weeks, Reed would win it for the entire state. Cayden has had a massive impact since he got eligible and has Montgomery County looking like the potential favorite in the 10th region.

There has not been a better point guard in Kentucky since Reed got eligible last month. He will be a really good pass first guy in college who can also score when called to do so.

Cayden has had a weird career full of transfers and off the court issues that were none of his fault. Reed can play. He’s a talented point guard who doesn’t force offense and is better as a table setter for his teammates. He would be a great signing for a D2 or NAIA program looking for a tough point guard in the 25 class.

Cayden is one of the best floor generals in the class and should be ready to make a statement in his Senior season after his Junior year ended early at Mason County. Reed is a player that other players like to play with and he’ll be responsible for distributing the ball across a talented MoCo roster.

A pass first point guard that other players love to play with, Cayden is one of the best floor generals in the class. He never forces his offense and excels at setting up teammates. Reed is capable of going for 20-25 points per game if he wanted to force the issue but lets the game come to him and has a bulldog mentality on defense.

Along with his brother Blake, Cayden is waiting eligibility at Mason County but if he gets eligible the Royals are the likely favorites in the 10th. The younger Reed is more of a table setter PG who doesn’t force his offense and would rather get an assist than take a bad shot for himself.

Often overlooked when discussing the best point guards in the class, Cayden is probably the only true pass first point on this list. Reed is a high level facilitator when he has more talent around him and often defaults to having to be more of a scorer at the high school level when he and his brother are the main scoring options. After transferring to Mason County this summer, the Reeds should have more help and Cayden can go back to the pass first PG he has shown himself to be in the past.

It’s easy to say “but he’s short” when talking about Cayden but he’s a pass first point guard who can sit down and guard and knows how to orchestrate an offense. One of the biggest reasons that Reed makes my list is because so many of his peers love playing with him. That says a lot when a player is universally loved. Especially a point guard. If Braxton Beverly can play at NC State, why can’t Cayden Reed Cayden Reed 5'9" | PG Montgomery County | 2025 State KY play D1 basketball?

Cayden is one of the best “floor general” type of point guards in the state, regardless of class. The younger of the famous Reed brothers, Cayden is a tough guard who can score the ball well but is just as comfortable facilitating for others and creating open shots.
