McKean has been off to an impressive start to the club season, putting up high scoring performances in a variety of areas across the board, including a 49 point performance this past weekend. Getting shots both from self creation or the offensive flow, the sophomore guard is showing versatile shotmaking. Notably scoring shots off the catch, following off-ball actions, McKean is more than capable of turning the corner into three point jump shots. At 6’2, he can score above contests alongside his utilization of his strength moving around point of attack defenders. Showing an increased volume on mid-range shot attempts out of pivots, the guard has started off the club season as a tough shotmaker on 16U Flyers. Not to mention that he is a positive on the defensive end, doing well keeping his hand in the lane and poking away passes along the perimeter. Through his past season at Castle View, he posted 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.9 steals per game.
John Backhaus John Backhaus 6'4" | SG Windsor | 2025 State CO – Windsor – NOCO Elite – 2025
Backhaus enjoys pushing the pace, contributing on openings in driving lanes and knocking down jump shots off the catch. The 6’1 guard has shown confidence in his three point jumper, fading into the corners and maximizing the group’s spacing in the halfcourt. This past season at Windsor high school, Backhaus put up 7.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while contributing an efficient rate from beyond the arc. Another facet of Backhaus’s game stems from his defensive assertiveness. Off of the ball, he is active trapping ball handlers or stunting drivers.
Ethan Berninger Ethan Berninger 6'5" | SG Dakota Ridge | 2025 State CO – Dakota Ridge – CO Premier – 2025
Berninger remains among the top prospects in that 2025 class, largely due to his shotmaking ability stationary or off the dribble. Despite being a potent scoring threat, he is not someone who has incredible highs and lows, but provides steady production the vast majority of games. A system scorer, Berninger is adept coming off of weak side actions for shot attempts, doing well turning his shoulders and relocating for the shot attempt. An area worth monitoring will be Berninger’s skillset as a playmaker, either attacking downhill to draw the foul or utilizing those drives to create openings for teammates. On the opposite end, Berninger provides a steady presence on the defensive end, both at the point of attack or off-ball. Due to his defensive awareness paired with his frame at 6’4, Berninger will be primed for a big season at Dakota Ridge, following the departure of nine seniors.
Blake Marshall – Pine Creek – 7070 Athletics – 2025
Marshall has shown confidence in the jump shot, taking and making a large volume of triples. The shooting guard out of Pine Creek is a valuable scoring threat along perimeter, stepping into shots with no conscience for the opponents. On defense, Marshall brings excellent off-ball instincts, keeping his top foot up to instigate passing lanes. During his most recent season at Pine Creek, Marshall put up 6.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
