Expert Analysis
Clayton Conover | Prep Hoops Scout
Up at 23.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game through four games, the UCCS commit is a physical guard who is such a pest inside the paint. Up to 38% from distance, his continued growth as an all around scorer alongside the positional strength makes him an especially unique prospect at the division 2 level. Although bringing the same dynamic downhill scoring, what has stood out is the relentless motor on the glass, going at opposing rebounders at an intensity not seen from many guards.

Although a couple spot difference, McKean has continued to refine his shotmaking ability alongside the obvious size and athleticism that he brings to the table. An intriguing backcourt prospect at the next level, there is no doubt that the guard will be primed for a huge season at Castle View. Particularly skilled creating space inside the arc, opponents will have their hands full slowing down McKean one on one. Defensively, he competes with both backcourt positions and wings, capable of sliding up and down lineups on the defensive end.

Possessing good size in the backcourt, McKean is a skilled shotmaker, particularly in the mid-range. Effective flowing into off-balance jumpers with or without an immediate contest, there is little the defense can do to slow him down when rolling. He is a proactive passer, looking to draw in the defense, rarely rushing.

A strong guard with 8-3 Castle View has been a focal point of this group’s offense, attempting more than double the shot attempts of the second on their team. At the helm, McKean is active getting downhill, creating separation from his positional size while remaining dynamic rising up into pull-ups if necessary.

gives me something to look forward to when the school season begins. Over the course of the weekend, Evan did what he normally does, by putting the ball in the basket and out rebounding teams, but he seems to have found his rhythm. Evan was very efficient around the rim all weekend as well as being able to step out and knock down open shots.
