There are some super talented players at the top of the list and several others lower down the ranking that have massive long term potential. Here’s a look at the updated top shooting guards and combo guards in Kentucky’s Freshman class.
Primarily a shooter at this point in his career, Spurlock was one of the highest scoring players in the 26 class this past season. Jacob possesses deep range on his jumpshot and will not hesitate to pull up from the volleyball line if you let him. Looking ahead, Spurlock will need to show college coaches that he can guard his position at a high level which his AAU season should offer him chances to do.
Highlights
One of the best athletes in the state, regardless of class. Cayson had a dunk that went viral during the season and has the physical tools to be an absolute lock down defender. His position could end up being more of a combo or point guard depending on how he grows and his game develops.
Cosby continues to grow and his game is evolving as both a playmaker and a driver. Xavier’s bread and butter is being a shooter but he has started to show that he can be more than that and has the potential to be a really good two way wing down the line. Look for him to have a bigger role at Trinity this season than he did as a Freshman.
Highlights
Another player known for his shooting and anxious for a bigger role, Rawlings is capable of getting hot quickly and won’t hesitate to fire from deep if given the space. Jordan needs to continue improving his on the ball defense to show he’s more than just another shooter but he has the athleticism to stay in front of opposing guards when he wants to sit down and guard.
Featured in our biggest risers article earlier this month, Jagger is a versatile attacker who can score the ball at a high level from anywhere on the court. Mardis is a name to track in the 5th region and LaRue County is loaded for the near future with strong classes in 2026 and 2027.
