Continue ReadingThe class of 2025 will have many talented players going into their junior years. Many of them will look to have big breakout seasons for their clubs next year. Here are five players from the 2025 class that I believe will take huge leaps and see an overall increase in production going into their third year.
Freeman has all of the makings of a player who looks to take a huge leap going into his junior year. He has great size already at the SF position being 6’5″. Freeman can read the passing lanes of other teams well, leading to many transition opportunities for his team. He rebounds at a solid rate while being able to score in the paint at will. If Freeman can develop a consistent three-point shot he will no doubt have a breakout year for the Jaguars next year.
Although Alex is listed at 5’9″ he is a very crafty point guard with a lot of skill at his disposal. He is a complete floor general already as he sees the floor very well setting up his teammates for many open shot and drive opportunities. Grospe can get to any spot on the floor with his tight and shifty handles. Grospe also uses his small size to pickpocket taller players which leads to lots of transition opportunities for his team. Look for Alex to have a breakout season next year as he has all the tools of a great point guard.
Highlights
Standing at 6’1″ in the SG position Jaycen has an incredible midrange game with a nice pull-up jumper. He uses that long frame to shoot over smaller defenders. Jaycen can also get into the paint whenever he wants as he has underrated handles that can catch defenders off guard. The transition game seems to be one of his strongest skills as he is always leaking out ahead looking to score the second his team comes up with a loose ball. He even rebounds well for his size averaging over seven rebounds a game. Jaycen will look to improve on what was an already strong campaign going into his junior season.
Tassey is a player that can seemingly do it all when it comes to scoring and defending. Tassey is an elite rim protector already at his age averaging multiple blocks a game. On the offensive side, Tassey has a nice midrange and three-point shot, leaving defenders questioning how he will score whenever he has the ball. He is crafty at drawing fouls when driving inside leading to more free throws. The one thing you would like to see out of Tassey is to use his long 6’4″ size to grab more rebounds as he averages about five rebounds a game. Tassey should for sure have a breakout season for the Colonials next year.
Highlights
Justin has a well-put-together game at the CG position. His three-point shot is very consistent as he can use that for catch-and-shoot opportunities or look to shoot from deep off the dribble. Justin is great at stripping defenders as he records multiple steals a game leading to transition points for his team. Having crafty moves around the rim allows Justin to get easy baskets. His best game came against Passaic Charter as he recorded 32 points and 9 steals in a win. The only concern you would like to see out of Justin is for him to find more ways to draw fouls so he can generate more free throws. Justin will be heading into his third year with lots of breakout potential.
