Players put up big performances on Sunday as they tried their best to win games in the tournament style. Here are the standouts from Championship Sunday in the Hoop Group Pittsburgh Jam Fest.
Kayden Mingo, 6’1 CG PSA Cardinals (Long Island Lutheran) 2025
Mingo had a big performance on Sunday as he helped lead them to a quarterfinal win over VA Premier. The 6’1 guard used his tight handle to blow by his defender off the bounce, which led to him finishing nicely around the basket. Mingo was able to draw contact in the paint and made clutch plays down the stretch to help pull out the win. He showed the ability to play off the ball as well and pushed the pace well in transition. Mingo is poised to have a big EYBL session I in Memphis if he is able to carry over his play from Sunday.
Gabe Weis, 6’8 PF Wildcat Select 3SSB (Montverde Academy) 2026
Weis had a monster performance for Wildcat Select 3SSB on Sunday as he lead them to the semifinals of the 16U platinum bracket. The 6’8 forward threw down a couple of powerful dunks in the quarterfinals and used his size to get position down low. Weis showed a good face-up game as he was able to get to the rim off the bounce and has a nice touch around the rim. He ripped down rebounds at both ends of the floor and influenced shots around the basket on the defensive end. Weis is a talented forward prospect who has the ability to have a big 3SSB season with Wildcat Select.
Dylan Deluca, 6’7 SF Virginia Premier (United Faith Christian Academy) 2025
Deluca had a strong performance for Virginia Premier as he put his offensive game on display. The 6’7 forward was able to get to the rim off the bounce and finished nicely at the basket. Deluca was unafraid of drawing contact down low and rarely forced shots in the half court. He worked hard for rebounds on both ends of the floor and held his ground on the defensive end. Deluca’s ability to score inside and out is something that will help his stock in a big way throughout the spring and summer.
Rey Weinseimer Rey Weinseimer 6'0" | PG Manasquan | 2027 State NJ , 6’0 PG Shoreshots Rio (Manasquan) 2027
Weinseimer had a big Sunday for Shoreshots Rio UAA as he made plays for them on both ends of the floor. The 6’0 guard played with confidence on the offensive end as he attacked the basket strong and finished through contact around the rim. Weinseimer wasted little motion in his jumper and set his feet before he shot. He played tough on-ball defense as he generated steals and turnovers defending the ball. Weinseimer is a gritty guard prospect whose stock will continue to rise with more performances like he had on Sunday.
Gerald Elwell Gerald Elwell 6'4" | PF Payne Tech | 2026 State NJ , 6’5 PF NJ Beasts (Payne Tech) 2026
Elwell was a force down low for the NJ Beasts as he did all he could for them in the 16U Platinum bracket quarterfinals. The 6’5 forward was a monster on the offensive glass as he secured multiple offensive boards during the game. Elwell showed a nice touch around the basket and consistently drew contact in the paint. He held his ground on the defensive end and was able to find space in the zone on the offensive end. Elwell is a physical forward prospect who is primed to have a big spring and summer with his ability to get position down low.
