There are some fantastic players within the Northwest conference. Here is a couple of the highest ranked guys within the conference and within the 2023 class, starting with some watch-list players.
Mathew is an INSANE athlete. He jumps out of the gym, being able to rip and go from the three point line for a huge slam. He’s excellent from the high post. He can rise up for a nice mid-range jumper or find his open teammates. He hits the deep shot decently. His ceiling is very high.
Highlights
Blaine attacks the bucket really nicely. He’s great off the first dribble and uses his body to his advantage down by the hoop. Granberg is athletic, being abler to rise up and slam the ball home. He has a solid three point shot, being able to hit the shot off the dribble or catch. He plays with a ton of energy on the court
Mathew is one of the main pieces for one of the most talented squads in the 2A classification. He lets the game come to him and doesn’t force much. He attacks the rim nice and has a solid pull up jump shot. He plays off the ball well, being able to move to get open nicely. He is a great leader on the court too, always encouraging teammates.
Howe is a big body down low who plays his heart out every possession. He is a monster on the glass, always relentlessly trying to get the ball. He is smart on offense, setting a lot of screens and posting up for the ball at the block often. He has the ability to step out and hit the 3 ball too. Defensively, he is all over the place. He defends the basket very well, contesting anything that is near him.
Highlights
Parcher impresses me a lot on the court. He has a lot of knowledge for the game and plays the game slowly. He plays off 2024 graduate Anthony Canales Anthony Canales 6’4″ | SG Lynden | 2024 State WA very well and 2025 graduate Brant Heppner Brant Heppner 6’6″ | SF Lynden | 2025 State WA has been a big body to feel the ball to down low. He finds his spot well, knowing where he can sink the shot. He hits the mid range consistently and gets to the rack well. Keep an eye on him.
Grey has great size for the Northwest Conference, as not many players can match up to his 6’7″ frame. He’s strong down low and is aggressive with the ball by the bucket. He can step outside and hit the three ball very well. He hustles down the court on both sides of the ball, leading to transition dunks and blocks.
Tyler is very skilled. He can do it all for the Lyncs. He facilitates his offense arguably better than anyone else in the conference. He’s patient with the ball and is able to contain his dribble when defenders are close on him. This Lyncs team won the state title last year and Sipma’s experience in big games is going to pay off late this season.
Grant is the last of the 3 headed trio for the Sehome Mariners. Grant expands the floor well when he’s on the court. He can handle the ball, play from the wing, or work from the post as well. He hits the 3 well but is best when he attacks the bucket and gets to the free throw line. He plays with a ton of energy on defense, leading to many turnovers. He’s a fun player to watch on the court.
