About Blaine
Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Granberg has been on a tear recently, putting an exclamation on an already outstanding season. He’s been hyper efficient from the field, netting 29 points on 8 of 11 shooting against Lakewood, and 24 points on 7 of 10 shooting against Blaine. The Burlington-Edison point guard is the motor for their offense and has emerged not just as a leader but as a solid scoring threat who can get to the rim and hit from outside with a sweet stroke.

Blaine attacks the bucket really nicely. He’s great off the first dribble and uses his body to his advantage down by the hoop. Granberg is athletic, being abler to rise up and slam the ball home. He has a solid three point shot, being able to hit the shot off the dribble or catch. He plays with a ton of energy on the court

Blaine looked very good over the summer when I watched him and this Tigers team. They are adjusting to a new style of coaching but Blaine’s game is still getting better. He’s extremely athletic, runs the floor well, and sits down on defense to defend his opponent with ease. Against rival Mount Vernon, Blaine helped lead the Tigers to a win by dropping 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. He’s going to stuff the stat sheet quite a few times this year.

Burlington-Edison is a team who I think could make some noise this season within the NWC and the entire 2A class. Blaine is insanely athletic, quick, and is always bringing the energy for the team. The Tigers played a tough Mount Vernon squad but came up with the close victory. Blaine came up big with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. He’s going to continue to put up numbers like these.

Blaine has also grown quite a bit since last season. You can tell he has been putting in the work to perfect his game and make himself more well rounded. He’s an outstanding shooter from deep, easily sinking the open 3 and being able to hit the shot with a hand in his face as well. He attacks the bucket hard and is able to finish athletically. He runs the floor very well, being able to fill lanes correctly or handle the ball down the court to make the right decision.

As not a lot of people really pay attention to the Northwest Conference, many players aren’t seen much. This was the case for Blaine, until he had a monster summer these past couple months leading up to the season. He was dominant playing for Burlington-Edison HS during their summer lead games, often leading the offense for his team. The senior took a big step in having his game more well-rounded. His three point shot is still as good as ever, but Blaine attacks the rim just as good as anyone in the NWC. He played great for North City AAU over the summer as well, getting his name out there more in the process.

Blaine is another player on the Tigers who I feel like has taken a step up since I saw them last year in the district playoffs. Blaine has a lights out shot from long range. He runs the court extremely well, finishing at the rim contested or finding his open teammates. His athleticism also stands out. He’s able to rise to slam the ball home with ease and also grabs rebounds with his strong grip on the ball. Defensively he stands out as well, having fast feet and always keeping his hands out. He’s shown that he’s a top talent in the Whatcom / Skagit counties over the course of the summer and will continue to do so when the season starts.
