Vincent capped off his breakout senior season with 19 points against one of the top teams in the state. All season long he was one of the biggest back-to-the-basket scoring threats in the state, and even against the Wayzata size he was still producing. Hopkins likes to play fast and shoot a lot of threes, but were also able to rely upon Vincent’s post scoring for efficient buckets. If he catches away from the basket he had the strength to back his man down deeper, but if he caught in low post position he could quickly turn and score with either hand. Vincent has exceptional footwork on the block and also a nice turnaround jumper in the lane. Makes good use of a shot fake to get guys in the air but could also power up and score through outstretched arms. Had a team high 19 points in the close loss.

Vincent continued to be a threat in the paint, as the 6’6 senior put up 24 points to help lead Hopkins past Minnetonka. Tonka doesn’t have a true big, so Hopkins was looking for Vincent in the post early, and he started off the game by hitting a turnaround jumper from close to the free throw line. He had the size advantage but was being defended by scrappy guards/wings who were throwing numbers at him. Despite some of the contact he was able to stay balanced and power his way up for strong finishes. Was dangerous out of the pick & roll because he sets a hard screen that is difficult for defenders to get over, and he then possesses the coordination to catch and finish in traffic. Has consistently been one of the most productive 2023 posts in Minnesota this season.

Vincent is a huge reason Hopkins is currently 11-1 and taking down some of the top teams in the state. He has truly taken that next step as a player as he saw limited minutes last season as a junior. Rebounding and scoring inside have been his big strengths this year as he is almost automatic when he gets the ball into the paint. He can finish around the rim with both hands and is also effective in the post. When he is there in the post, he can knock down some tough fadeaway looks, as well as using pumpfakes to get himself easy layups at the basket. Hillesheim is averaging 15.8 points per game this season and has his the Royals ranked as the #3 team in class AAAA.

It hasn’t really mattered what type of size is guarding him, opposing bigs can’t seem to stop Vincent when he catches on the block. He has some of the best footwork in the state mixing in a variety of pivots to get a good angle to finish, as well as possession the touch to score with either hand around the rim. Vincent mixed in hook shots, turnaround jumpers, and power finishes on his way to 24 points in the win. As the only true big on his team he’s relied upon heavily for rebounding, and he does a great job of always finding a body to box out as soon as a shot goes up. Someone who goes out and works hard every minute leading to consistent production for his team.

Vincent was a dominant force in the paint for Hopkins in the win over a top-10 ranked Andover squad. He could not be stopped on the boards, as he was coming away with rebounds through all kinds of traffic on both defense and offense. These second chance opportunities were crucial for his team and were a huge reason the Royals were able to be in control of this game from start to finish. The senior forward also scored the ball well with some post hooks and fadeaways. Hopkins looks to be meshing perfectly to start the season which is kind of surprising due to their lack of experience.

Vincent produced at a high level against a 6’9 defender on Saturday morning, putting up 22 points in the win for Hopkins. He doesn’t care if you’re 7’2, Vincent has the footwork and strong frame to find a way to get his shot off. If he gets to that right handed hook shot he rarely misses as he has excellent touch and does a great job of going up balanced. Hillesheim was setting hard screens to free up his guards, and was excellent with his decision making on whether to roll to the hoop or pop out for a jumper. Mixed in some outside makes with efficient post scoring.

rounded out Hopkins 3-headed attack with a very solid 16 point, 14 rebound performance. The six-foot-six-inch 2023 Senior was a force in the middle versus the undersized Jefferson team. As the role man with two dynamic guards, Hillesheim finds himself free inside to be a very productive forward. He has solid post moves and footwork, willing worker inside and on the perimeter as a screener. Can work the dribble hand-off, and showed enough presence inside to block a driving guard in the first half and second half.

After a quite first half, Vincent scored five 2nd half field goals to help push Hopkins past Holy Family. Even against a pair of 6’10 defenders he was demanding the ball on the block, and scoring just about every time he got a low post touch. At around 6’6 Vincent proved he has some of the best post footwork in the state as he mixed in a variety of pivots and shot fakes to get the taller defenders in the air before finishing. He showed he can score with either hand around the basket, and even knock down a short turnaround jumper when the option is there. Really gritty performance from the 2023 forward going up against a high level frontcourt.
