Anthony was such a consistent piece for Hopkins as a senior, and doesn’t need to get on the ball much to be effective. He’s a high energy rebounder, excels at stepping in from the dunker spot for dump-off or lob passes, and is able to use his length to disrupt shots around the basket. He showed flashes of his ability to handle the ball and make plays on the perimeter, but is at his best using his size and explosiveness as a worker around the basket.

was dominating in the paint against DeLaSalle on Tuesday. They simply couldn’t keep the 6’8 forward off the offensive glass, and it allowed him to rack up a bunch of second chance points for Hopkins. Any time one of his teammates attacked the basket, Anthony was crashing hard to collect and go back up with any missed lay-up. In what was a close game, Anthony came up with a handful of late finishes in the second half to push his team ahead as they came away with the win. Really long frame combined with some strength/explosiveness that allowed him to produce with efficiency around the basket.

continued to show his intriguing potential as a 6’7 forward. He handles the ball in ways not many guys his size can, able to weave through defenders in the open floor, or beat opposing forwards off the dribble in half-court sets. He catches a lot of guys off-guard with how quickly he can change directions at his size, and that agility also helps him defend smaller players on the other end. In the game I watched Anthony stretched the floor with a couple of jumpers, recovered to swat a few shots at the rim, and showed finishing touch off the drive.

Anthony continues to show flashes of what he can be down the road, and the next step is turning those flashes into consistent production. Against a tough Pride Roc team out of Milwaukee, Anthony had some impressive moments off the dribble. Even while being defended by a shorter player, Anthony was able to break him down off the dribble to get to the rim. Had an impressive spin move into a soft finish inside. Someone who can push the break because of how well he handles it at 6’7, and has the mobility + length needed to put himself in spots to make plays as a shot blocker.

Expect him to be one of the most versatile BIGs in the tourney. Byrd scores off the dribble, finishes over multiple defenders, exploits mismatches, and cleans up the glass. Anthony thrives at getting to the rim and has showcased crafty finishes this spring. Byrd is strong around the hoop, runs the floor hard in transition, and scores in fastbreak situations.
