Cody Woitel-Anschutz Cody Woitel-Anschutz 6'5" | SG/SF Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2029 State MN is a six-foot-four-inch 2029 wing from Armstrong and finished out the AAU year with LEAD Sports Academy. Woitel-Anschutz is a strong rim finisher and when presented the chance he’ll probably dunk it. During the AAU year Woitel-Anschutz impressed with shot creation ability off the dribble which he did a couple times in the Pink v Blue Ballers League game. The long range jumper looks solid and more repetitions could mean meaningful improvement and gain confidence. Woitel-Anschutz doesn’t ever seem not ready for a game and clearly works hard on the court.

The 6’4/6’5 forward with potential is on the move again switching high schools like we saw AAU wise. Cody was Hiawatha’s 11th man last year, he hopes to move into an Armstrong line-up that has forward spots to fill.

Woitel-Anschutz is a fantastic leaper who finishes a number of plays above the rim, is a good rebounder with the jumping ability and has shown an ability to create shots off the dribble and get mid-range spots that I’ll call his spots, Woitel-Anschutz shows good anticipation like a waiting defensive back to pick off passes and those lead to high percentage rim runs which are either lay-ups or dunks.

Woitel-Anschutz was very effective in the mid-range creating his own shot and giving LEAD a scoring threat on the wing. Woitel-Anschutz looked more comfortable playing the press with LEAD than last week and seems to be fitting in well with their team.

Cody Woitel-Anschutz Cody Woitel-Anschutz 6'5" | SG/SF Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2029 State MN – The 2029 six-foot-four-inch from Armstrong played with LEAD Sports Academy this weekend added an offensive punch for LEAD off the dribble. Woitel-Anschutz’s ability to jump passing lanes and playing aggressively on the perimeter fit pretty well. 

I already wrote about Cody’s strong performance on Friday night, but he came back on Saturday with an even more impressive showing. I had already known about him as an explosive slasher, but he really impressed with his footwork and mid-range game on Saturday. Whenever Cody catches he’s immediately getting into a triple-threat position, and from there displayed a dangerous jab step that gets his defender leaning before Cody attacks the opposite direction. Impressive footwork to get into his pull-up jumper off the move, elevating and getting his shots off before defenders have a chance to react. In what was a close game with Heiser Sports Academy, Cody blew things open in the second half as he hit shot after shot from 15+ feet.

For a kid who’s listed at 6’5 he moves extremely well, has some dynamic handles. With his size and strength he not only is a matchup nightmare but is able to get his shot off at will vs pretty much anyone. Shows athe ability to be creative off the catch and his pull-up game was on point. Scored on post ups and catch n shoot 3’s. Aggressive rebounder and likes contact.

Cody got off to a flying start in game one for Minnesota Heat . After about eight minutes of play he racked up four lay-ups, two threes, and was fouled on another take to earn a trip to the free throw line. That production would slow a bit throughout the game, but he still showed flashes of that explosive burst at 6’4+ that makes him so tough to stop when he looks to attack. Really liked his effort picking up full-court and moving his feet to pressure smaller guards the length of the floor.

Cody was key in Minnesota Heat ‘s win over Mpls Hustlers this past weekend, impacting the game in a variety of ways. The 6’4”-6’5” wing is a skilled ball handler and was looking to attack every time he could. He was able to work himself inside for some tough finishes through contact, also being a scoring threat on the perimeter. Woitel-Anschutz is one of the most athletic prospects in the state’s 2029 class, as he is fun to watch when he gets in the open floor for a dunk.

In a blowout win against Prairie Seeds, the 6’4 freshman was able to get some big minutes on the floor. Despite a clear mismatch, we still got to see some of the physical tools that make Cody an intriguing prospect in the 2029 class. He had some strong takes to the rim, showcasing an explosive burst that only a few players in his class can match. He rebounded hard, and was the player applying pressure to Prairie Seeds’ point guard the length of the floor.
