Our Headliners
Wayzata completely controlled their game with Hopkins and I think we can start to talk about the Trojans as title contenders again. Junior Jackson McAndrew Jackson McAndrew 6'10" | PF Wayzata | 2024 State #24 Nation MN – who is making a big case to be the top prospect in his class when it comes to long term future potential – scored 27 points. That’s another big performance from McAndrew in a big game. Jackson scored the 27 while the Trojan froncourt limited Vincent Hillesheim Vincent Hillesheim 6'6" | PF Hopkins | 2023 State MN to single digits.
Our prediction was….. Correct! Although it was a much bigger victory (point differential wise) than expected.
Ada Borup gave Thief River Falls their first loss of the season. A 68-65 win for the ranked Class A team at home. Unfortunately there has been nothing to find on the game outside of the score.
Our prediction was…. wrong! It was the home team by a score, not the road team.
Buffalo dropped down their statement game! They crushed Eden Prairie 75-50 led by 20 points from Nate Dahl Nate Dahl 6'0" | PG Buffalo | 2023 State MN , 15 from Grady Guida Grady Guida 6'1" | PG Buffalo | 2024 State MN , and 11 points from Brody Wishart Brody Wishart 6'2" | SG Buffalo | 2024 State MN . An explosive second half led to a comfortable finish and likely the respect that this team has been looking for.
Our prediction was… very very very wrong.
Mora beat Little Falls 68-48 led by 19 points from Max Sampson Max Sampson 6'0" | PG Mora | 2023 MN and 16 points from fellow senior Jonah Smart. Holding Little Falls to 48 points was an excellent defensive accomplishment.
Our prediction was…. correct!
Benilde-St. Margaret’s knocked off Bloomington Jefferson 74-60. The Red Knights were able to hold Daniel Freitag Daniel Freitag 6'1" | PG Breck | 2024 State #142 Nation MN a dozen points under his average and they were led by the 21 points of Jayden Daisy Jayden Daisy 6'4" | SG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2024 State MN . Daisy, a junior, is averaging 14 points a game for the top five Red Knights.
Our prediction was…. not just correct, we were off by one point!
