I was extremely impressed with Tyler in a section semifinal win over Lakeville South. His athleticism was the first trait that stood out to me. He threw down a pair of two-handed dunks and had a high flying chase down block. He also showed his versatile offensive game, being able to score from all three levels. He was using his size and speed to get to the basket and finish through contact. He could hit a pull-up in the mid-range and use the dribble to create space for shots from beyond the arc. Beckwith will need another big game on Friday to beat Lakeville North.

is that do-it-all player for Farmington, and as they play a big starting five, Tyler typically plays one of the guard spots and does a lot of ball handling duties. He’s comfortable handling under some pressure and has good quickness at his size which allowed him to beat defenders off the dribble and get to the rack. He scored 19 points and was doing so efficiently as he was working for open threes or high percentage looks at the rim. Strong rebounder with the ability to high point the ball in traffic and secure it with two hands. Threw down an explosive dunk in overtime that put the game out of reach.

Not only is Tyler an extremely versatile player, but he’s also an efficient scorer. That efficiency helped Farmington build up a sizeable lead on Monday night, and they didn’t look back from there. He just finds ways to get high percentage looks, whether it’s relocating off the ball for an open three, cutting to the basket, or beating his man off the dribble and using his size and athleticism to finish at the rim. When a gap closed down as Tyler was driving, he had the poise and awareness to locate an open man with a kickout pass which helped him pick up 3 assists. Defensively he showed the versatility go guard a number of spots, swatted a pair of shots, and controlled the game on the boards.
