High flying finisher, Edwards delivered back-to-back two-handed slams with a well-timed putback dunk and a fastbreak steal where he exploded off two and flushed with two, displaying easy and effortless bounce. His scoring extended out to the perimeter where he created 4-point plays off backdoor cuts for the catch-and-shoot three, showing awareness and timing. Edwards showed the ability to be a shutdown defender at times with his low positioning and anticipation for the dribble, drive, pass, or shot, impacting both ends with his athleticism.

Edwards continues to round out an already advanced offensive profile. The three-level scoring is real, but what stands out lately is the defensive growth—more versatility, better anticipation, and improved physicality on the glass. He’s not hunting shots; he’s letting the game come to him and still dictating outcomes. The upward trend matches the ranking.

stood out for Melissa High School against Vashon High School. He knocked down shots from the perimeter, both off the catch and off the dribble. Trey plays with confidence in both half-court and transition settings, able to push tempo and score from multiple levels. His shot mechanics are fluid, especially on one or two-dribble pull-ups that create separation against length. He demonstrates poise in spacing, relocating into gaps when the ball swings. One of the more dynamic guards in the 2028 class nationally, Edwards can play on the ball as a primary creator for the offense or space the floor as a knockdown shooter. With the quick twitch athleticism you’d look for from a top ranked national guard, Edwards has a lot of scoring talent in his arsenal. With schools like Cincinnati, Nc State, Memphis, Kansas State, Arizona State and more already offering Edwards, he seems like he’ll be a highly pursued prospect from Texas’ 2028 class.

After watching Edwards light it up against LeGYnds last Saturday, it’s easy to see why he’s Texas’ top 2028 prospect. Hits pull up threes from a few step beyond the line like they’re 10 footers. Smooth all around skillset, plays at his own pace. As he never looked bothered or sped up against a group of aggressive and athletic guards from Oklahoma. Reads the floor fantastically for his age. Special prospect, who is “BFC” certified. IYKYK.
