made an immediate statement in his debut with ABC Red, finishing with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. The guard out of Oklahoma City showed exactly why he is considered one of the most sought-after players in his class. Copeland was comfortable creating his own shot, showcasing a smooth pull-up jumper that he was able to get off in tight windows. When attacking the rim, he finished strong and above the rim, bringing an added level of physicality and athleticism to the lineup. His rebounding from the guard position helped ABC Red push tempo and generate early offense.

In the last decade, few freshman have played as much as Copeland did for Edmond North. While he has strong positional size for an off the ball guard, with flashes of next level athleticism. It was his ability as a floor spacing, must be accounted shooter which earned him playing time. And lead to lots of freshman year production. Is fresh off a strong end to his grassroots season in Kansas City in Nike EYB play. Where it looks like his athleticism to starting to fully come in. Meaning he could be pairing above the rim finishing with his strong perimeter shooting.

15 points on an efficient 7 shots highlighted the growing all around game for the Edmond sharpshooter. Looked more fluid and stronger on his drives to the rim. Threw it down with authority on one halfcourt drive. Then had another with a nice spin move into an “And 1”. This spring and summer against national competition should set the stage for Copeland to become one of the top all around scorers in Oklahoma, as only a sophomore.

The freshman cut his teeth with a full year starting for a winning program the 6A level. Copeland is at his best right now with his shooting ability as a catch and shoot option. But throughout the season, consistently flashed bursts of creativity and agility to be a complete scorer down the road. By this time next year, Copeland profiles as an above the rim the finisher. Mix in his quickly developing mid-range game, and the Edmond North Husky has the potential to become the rare actual three level scorer when it comes to translating to the next level. There’s a lot of like about his current game and long term projection.

Edmond North got off a strong start in a hostile environment, and it was the freshman who led the way in the first half. As usual, he was a strong perimeter shooter. Where if left open he’ll make the defense pay with efficiency from deep. But also had a couple flashes off the bounce. Against bigger and older opponents, had no issues putting it on the floor and scoring impressively at the rim. Has the DNA of a sharpshooter right now, with clear paths to turn into an all around scorer.

Freshman playing varsity for Edmond programs are rare, and it’s even rarer to start for Edmond North. The last to do so was Dylan Warlick, and that’s some big shoes for Copeland to fill from the recently graduated two time state champion. The smooth and skilled lefty seems very poised to do just that. Right now he’s a sniper with good size, and flashes of the movement profile to turn into a big time all around scorer. There will be up and downs this season but he’s a no brainer as a prospect with clear D1 upside if he continues to put the work in.
