As usual, Cravens was his usual floor general self. Making an impact that goes beyond the box score by controlling the game on both ends. He popped up with scores when needed. Dancing through defenders with great handles. Or casually pulling up from deep. Unselfish passer with great awareness of where his teammates are.
The awareness and feel also shows up on defense. As he directs traffic, communicates and often is in the right place at the right to cause problems. From jumping passing lanes, to timely trapping to force a bad pass and even having the elevation to get a block or two. Two sport star who’s impact in basketball can at times be under appreciated, because he makes it look so easy.

There might not be a single player in Oklahoma who elevates his teammates more than Cravens. When he’s dialed in, the Huskie is a joy to watch. One of the few guards in the state who can see the moves multiple steps ahead. Knows how to manage tempo, pushing it to create easy buckets for himself or teammates. While also slowing it down and managing an offense like a throwback point guard. One of the most talented athletes in the state because he also is Edmond North’s starting QB.

The style of the old school point guard may be rare now, but Cravens would fit into any era of basketball. Has some of the best vision in the state, as his head is always on a swivel, looking for advantages. Most apparent with the way he operates in transition. Turns defensive rebounds into transition opportunities pushing it and finding teammates running to the rim or spot up threats. Truly elevates the play of his teammates.
Cravens also usually does well when picking his spots to score. Has a true burst with the ball in his hands. But he doesn’t over use it. Truly plays at multiple gears and tempo, then will explode by to the rim. Good iso scoring style game in the mid-range with stepbacks and turnarounds.

The best player in the gym on Thursday. After Edmond North briefly gave up the lead, Cravens went into takeover mode. Cooking with deep off the dribble threes to end the first half. Similarly was effective in carving up the defense at the bounce. Wide variety of assists, quick thinking full court outlets which had him looking the QB he is on the field. Then driving into the teeth of the defense and making great finds in traffic. Plays the game at a pace and control that few in Oklahoma can match.

In the age of combo and score first guards, Cravens is a rarity as a throwback PG. The offense flows well when he’s in his game, as he has outstanding vision. Along with the understanding of when to drive to create for others. He picks his spots to score and can heat up in a hurry. Was particularly impressive in July, going toe to toe with elite national competition. He unleashed a new level of consistent tough shotmaking to compliment his creator mentality.
The Cravens that showed up in North Augusta, Georgia in July would be a lot closer to a top 5 junior in Oklahoma than 15th. But a few weeks before that amazing display in North Augusta, he looked a step off the pace at the UCO team camp. Consistency during his junior season as part of the new era for Edmond North would help legitimize Craven’s potential to play at the next level.

It was a tale of two events for Cravens in June and July. He looked off the pace in a couple games at UCO team camp. Then only a few short weeks later, he went toe to toe with nationwide talent. And thrived. He has true point guard instincts and feel. Smart and quick player, he processes the game extremely quickly. Almost like he’s a QB on the court (Cravens does also play QB for Edmond North). Good passer, who routinely gets assists and hockey assists with the looks he creates.
One of the most promising signs from his outstanding play in Augusta was how well he shot the ball from deep. His quickness and handle already make him a handful off the bounce. When Cravens is locked in, there doesn’t seem to be a weakness in his game.

The concept of the old school point guard who elevates his teammates seems to be going the way of the dinosaurs. But in Craven’s case, he’s fighting against extinction. As it’s evident whenever he’s on the floor; the offense simply flows better. He’ll get the team into sets and keep the ball moving. Add in the tenacity he plays as a disruptor on defense and it’s obvious that Cravens is a player who’s impact goes beyond the box score. It was good to see him locked in and improving his team whenever he was on the floor. As while his team suffered a tough last second loss, Cravens will be a key part of any bounce back.

Only a sophomore, Cravens is spearheading the next stage of Edmond North’s run as one of the elite programs in Oklahoma. He’s havoc causing on defense and a traditional point guard who makes sure everyone eats on offense. Great vision and a variety of passes. Can play with some flair in transition with fancy passes, while also making the right reads in the halfcourt. The QB background he has from football clearly carries over onto the court. Had a good scoring run in the fourth as they closed the game out. Couple threes and a nice take.

Cravens is a natural athlete who makes it look easy with the ball in his hands. He changes directions and switches gears regarding pace with ease. Which makes him a handful for defenders as a scorer. Still progressing as a decision making at the varsity level, at times can bite off more than he can chew. But the upside is there for him to mature into a complete floor general, who has the ball on a string. If football doesn’t come calling first, as Cravens is one of the most well rounded athletes in Oklahoma.
