Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Jacobson, an agile big out of Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, checks into the rankings at #22. Fitting the bill of the modern big man, he has the ability to make shots from the perimeter, handle the ball in DHO situations, and finish plays in the paint. He’s a fluid mover that can operate as a roller or pop guy out of screens, while also showing the ability to play with his back to the basket and finish over either shoulder with touch. He’s even shown the ability to be a guy that you set screens for to open up his catch and shoot game from the perimeter. Defensively, he’s got great length, the ability to guard on the perimeter in switches, and plays with toughness as a rebounder.

Jacobsen uses his size and strength to find success in the paint on both ends. He showed an ability to stretch the floor while also exhibiting solid low-post footwork when they dumped it down to him. Not necessarily a leaper, but Jacobsen can still fight in the paint with other bigs.

Jacobsen remains one of the most intriguing prospects in the state, given his upside to space the floor while remaining a productive interior defender. His wide reach and relative mobility at 6’10 makes him a formidable matchup for opposing drivers. Active contesting shots at the basket, the forward worked to become a much more active rim protector throughout this past season and club ball this spring. His continued growth on the offensive end will be intriguing, given his soft touch on free throws and the jumper this far along. Already up at 71% from the line and 37% behind the arc, the 4/5 shows immense potential.

Jacobsen was able to deter some shots at the rim and was crashing the boards, getting the ball out quickly. At times was able to get some blocked shots and made ball handlers rethink going into the paint. He was able to knockdown shots from behind the arc and was battling down low in the post.

Quickly gaining momentum as a productive frontcourt prospect, Jacobsen now stands right around 6’9, providing two-way upside. The forward has become a dependable floor spacer when provided space, nearly impossible to block given his high release point. They have been particularly productive in the last few games, putting up 20, 24, 14, and 22 points in those matchups. For reference, Jacobsen is leading among 5A sophomores for made free throws, rebounds, and blocks alongside third place in points. La Cueva’s 13-7 start is in small part from Jacobsen’s impact, certainly benefitting from the forward’s presence on both ends.
