Walkowiak continues to show steady growth each time he steps on the floor, and his latest performance was another strong step forward. He plays with relentless energy, never giving up on a play and consistently finding ways to impact the game. As a scorer he’s aggressive and opportunistic, especially thriving on second chance points with his work on the offensive glass. He flies around the court, making hustle plays that don’t always show up in the box score but shift momentum. His motor and toughness stood out, and with his continued progression, he’s becoming a player who can influence the game in multiple ways

Walkowiak has always brought effort and physicality, but this year, his impact has to show up on the box score as well. He’s a skilled, strong guard/wing who will need to supply real offensive relief with attention drawn elsewhere. Defensively, he’s capable of guarding top players and turning stops into momentum plays, and we want that to turn into more steals and blocks to back it. The tools are there for a true sophomore leap if his aggression on both ends takes another step forward and he becomes one of the most important pieces in the conference.

With Sam, the effort is always there, and that activity is always what has him popping off the screen. But what isn’t being talked about is how often he makes timely plays. When the team needs a rebound, he gets it. If it is a 3-pointer or a finish inside, he does that too, and that is what makes T-Ridge dangerous. This weekend, he used his size as a slasher and played through contact. He had a few bully-ball moments. The next step is creating more for others and flowing as a decision-maker as he seems to do everything else. The foundation is real, and now it’s about expanding his game. Excited to see the next steps there.

What we know:
I know that you’re not going to find many competitors in this class at the level that you will with Sam. Sam elevates this showcase, as you know that there will be energy, effort on the defensive end, and a player willing to give it his all, and that play is contagious. Sam is a player who will have the opportunity this upcoming season to be a focal point of a team that has state championship aspirations. He’s a versatile defender that can play and defend multiple positions, can take over in key moments as a floor raiser, and makes those around him better.
What we’d like to see:
We’d like to see him play with the effort that he’s known for. Sam has the opportunity this year to be a difference-maker on both sides of the floor for T-Ridge. While other players will be specialists for their high school teams, he will not be, as he elevates the team on both ends. He must embrace that responsibility. He will be able to score both on and off the ball as well as be one of the best defenders on the team and in the conference. This is a chance to practice for that role and come in and show that he can defend some of the best players in the state, regardless of position, and with the list of prospects attending the event, there will be an opportunity for that. This is a great spot for him.

is a high-effort, two-way player who brings value on both ends of the floor. That is what separates him from the pack. He competes at a high level and finishes strong around the rim, defends multiple spots, and plays with an edge that stands out. He doesn’t take plays off and gets the best out of his teammates. His versatility and ability to impact the game in several ways is why he lands in the Top 10.

Walkowiak plays with an edge and battles on every single possession and that is a coaches dream for a young player. He is not out there trying to do too much but excels in his role and is an X factor that you put not he floor for a spark. He gets down hill, and finishes, he is physical as a point of attack defender and he turns defense into offense. What stands out about Walkowiak is his feel for the game. He’s a high IQ defender that covers multiple positions, he gets downhill and goes at defenders with either a finish or forces a foul and is a workhorse on both ends of the floor. I like how much he seems to enjoy getting better as he seems to add to his game each time out.

is a clutch point guard who has incredible ball control and shot-making abilities. At 6’0, Walkowiak has no problem rebounding over other guards and utilizing his size in the post. With his eyes up and head on a swivel, Walkowiak is always looking for chances to distribute the ball and get his teammates activated.

Walkowiak continues to provide steady offense with this group, a knockdown shooter who has the clutch gene in him. Comfortable hitting key shots after a drought, his short in-game memory makes him a threatening perimeter shot taker at this stage. Not to mention his above average strength as a freshman allows him to compete at the point of attack or on the glass, certainly a name to follow to creep up in minutes played.

Walkowiak’s willingness to deal with physicality has granted him early opportunities with one of the better programs at the 6A level, at Thunderridge. A dependable downhill scoring option, his skills with the rock makes him a dynamic secondary scorer in spite of opposing closeouts. That downhill pressure has already made him one of the more productive passers in the class. Rebounding is another key area for the guard, grabbing more rebounds per game (4.9) than points (4.7), with an absolutely relentless motor at this stage.
