led Northfield in 3PT makes this past campaign, with 54 long-range bombs. The 6’2 shooting guard is as crafty as it gets, creating space off the dribble and knocking down clutch shots when his squad needs them the most. What impresses me most about Austin’s game is his ball control and tempo, accelerating downhill while making the most of his opportunities in transition. Second chances are Austin’s specialty, crashing the glass and converting often from all three levels. The future is shining bright for Austin who’s expected to have a breakout summer and an even better senior season come this fall.

Northfield is 0-2 on the season against GW, but maybe the 3rd time is the one they finally beat them. Northfield will have to play connected against the Patriots if they want to have a chance, and in their last game, it was Austin who stepped in to help Michaels with the scoring. With as much attention goes to the other players, Austin is a prospect who can make his mark. We’ve seen him have big days from deep, and that is the difference maker. If he’s able to get hot from beyond the arc, he can be the difference in the game. He has to handle pressure, space the floor, and remain aggressive. This is a game where size matters for Northfield, and they have a wing who checks off the boxes as a scorer who gets to his spots. He’s a secret weapon who I believe is due for a big game.

Austin carried his momentum from the fall straight into the season and has become a real problem for opponents at Northfield. Averaging 9.1 points as the team’s third leading scorer, he brings instant offense with his confidence and shooting mentality. There isn’t a shot he’s afraid to take, and once he finds a rhythm, he can change a game in a hurry. His deep range shooting is becoming a major weapon, and his ability to carve out space and get open makes him one of the most dangerous floor spacers on the court

Austin Jr. came out firing in 3-on-3, relying heavily on perimeter shooting. He was getting plenty of shots up on the day. While we liked how aggressive he played, it sometimes limited his versatility as we wanted to see how he reads the court, if he’s able to grab rebounds and use his size as well as play off the ball. It wasn’t a bad day shooting but we wanted to see his expanded game. In 5-on-5, he settled into a better rhythm, mixing in drives and showing shot creation from multiple spots. As a bigger guard, he has the tools to create offense as he has the length and ability to get inside and attack, and when patient, he becomes a tough shot-maker with real upside. We want to see more of that and excited to see how he fits in at Northfield this season as we feel that he can be a solid contributor this season based off of what we saw at the event.

Austin took a dip in the rankings this last go round, so this allows us to see more of him. He does the little things that help his team, and in a showcase if he is giving great energy, defending well, and making the right plays, that will play a part in getting back on our radars and in a position to rise. He should come into this as a guard with a chip on his shoulder. We want to see him there.

Austin quietly did all the things that impact winning. He scored in rhythm, rebounded outside of his area, and was composed under pressure. Whether it was finishing at the rim, making the extra pass, or crashing the glass, he played with purpose. He’s the kind of player that controls pace, and his ability to affect the game in different ways this weekend was a big reason for their success. If this version of Austin sticks, Northfield’s ceiling rises.

Austin was a high level perimeter defender, bringing a wide reach and the necessary discipline to wall off the lane. His handle has continued to improve, granting him plenty of opportunities at the rim for layups and drawn fouls. Within the mid-range, the guard hit a few pull-ups through contests, bringing plenty of confidence on both ends. The high motor guard should get some varsity playing time at Northfield next season, given his high floor defensively.

A proactive downhill scorer with defensive upside, Austin has shown value on the margins. Effective hustling for rebounds and maintaining position on the glass, they work hard on those opportunities. Willing to draw contact at the basket, Austin looks to make an impact next season for one of the state’s top 5A programs.
