The elder Hopkins brother was a steady scorer throughout the contest. Where he elevated his game came on the defensive end, as while his brother was making highlight reel steals, Hopkins was a rim protector.

Since stepping into a bigger role as a sophomore, Hopkins has been a bowling ball going downhill and a highlight reel in translation. He made good strides as a jump shooter (especially in the mid-range) as a junior and now as a senior it looks like his game has fully come together for the 5A contending Titans. His recent clutch fourth quarter performance against district rivals Crossings was one of the best examples of his development. The senior knocked down threes and would not be denied at the rim in a dramatic rally, that featured a game winning “grown man” take in the final minute from Hopkins. His explosiveness and strength allows him to initiate contact at the rim and finish through taller and bigger players.

A late season surge by the Titans earned them not only the opportunity to host Regionals next week, it also won them the district title in the toughest district in 5A. The swing point of that surge came in the final quarter against Crossings Christian last week, when

helped erased a double digit deficit with clutch offensive play. The senior was a man on the mission, as he hit from distance but perhaps more importantly he was unstoppable off the bounce. He played with aggression and strength on drives to match his powerful frame. Including the go ahead score over one of Crossing’s taller post players. It was the type of performance that if Hopkins were to repeat in the playoffs, would be regarded as a legacy moment for the tradition rich program.
After a slow start to the year by Car Albert’s lofty standards, the Titans are 15-1 in the calendar year of 2024. With that one loss coming to a Class 6A program, with Hopkins and his younger brother Jayden at the helm of their athletic backcourt, they are poised for another trip to Norman in March. With a good chance to be one of the last team’s standing.

Following Hopkins’ 20 points and 5 rebounds performance he earned All Tournament team honors. In the first half against Del City, he really had it rolling. Hitting tough shots in the mid-range, and his burst when getting by people and getting to the rim has few peers in Oklahoma. But like his team, some of his impact tapered off in the second half. One play in the second half particular stood out. After a great move to get to the rim, he left it just short. While there was some contact, it’s the type of play a player with Hopkins’ power and frame needs to play through. Especially when projecting out to the next level.

Since stepping into a starting role as a sophomore, Hopkins has been a key component of back to back Class 5A State Tournament teams for the tradition rich Titans. He’s a highlight reel waiting to happen as one of the top dunkers in the state. Throughout his high school career he has become a more confident shooter and will among the very best scorers in 5A this season.

Another explosive and athletically gifted prospect, Hopkins was particularly great down the stretch for the Titans during their playoff run last season. While he can hit from distance, he’s particularly money from the mid-range. That shooting combined with his rare gift of quickness and strength makes him one of the toughest players to cover in the state. Mix in the urgency that seniors get when the clock starts to wind down on their careers and Hopkins will be a must watch prospect this winter.

A bowling ball of a wing, Hopkins is an explosive finisher at the rim. He fully broke out as a junior for Carl Albert, as he started to become a reliable shooter in the mid-range, with the occasional make from beyond the arc as well. After leading Carl Albert to a runner up finish in Class 5A, he’ll be a large part of why the Titans will likely head into the season as the favorites. Highlight reel dunks should be a regular occurrence for Hopkins this winter for the powerhouse Titans.

One of the poster boys for the “junior year leap” Hopkins had a breakout junior season for Class 5A runner ups Carl Albert. The breakout looks to continue for his pivotal spring and summer on the 17U circuit. His activity level has steadily been increasing over the last year and it continued in both contests. Hopkins has a good second jump which allows him to be very active on the glass, especially on the offensive end.
While he can hit some from distance, the powerful wing excelled as a 15 feet and in player. The Hawks would often design touches for him around the free throw line and let him go to work. Especially on out of bounds plays. It was great to see him put in a position to succeed with an emphasis on attacking downhill with power and quickness. At the rim his finishing was a little up and down amongst some of the taller defenders. Continuing to refine his finishing against next level size is the next big step in his college development. Mixing in with the his drives is an improving pull up jumper, which brings balance to his scoring repertoire.

is a high motor, athletic wing that is consistently a problem for opponents on both ends of the floor. Hopkins is threat to score at all 3 levels on the offensive end despite being undersized for his position as some might claim. What Quincy may lack in height he makes up for in strength, skill, and his athletic prowess allowing him to remain a threat on offense and force on the defensive end. Hopkins has been the motor behind this Carl Albert program all season long and led them to a 5a State Championship appearance where they came up just short, falling to a strong Del City program by 2. With the playoffs behind him Quincy will be playing with something to prove this summer as he prepares to lead Carl Albert to another appearance but with intentions of a different outcome.
