Nate Jones Nate Jones 6'8" | PF Millwood | 2027 State OK is a high-flying wing who consistently got to the rim and threw down some thunderous dunks in the victory for YPG NXTPro 17u over Be Someone Elite. Nate showed that he knows when to cut to the basket and be open for clean looks in the paint. Jones has capability to beat defenders when put in isolation situations and he is adept picking apart opposition out of the triple threat. He also had several blocks under the basket and came down with key rebounds to keep his team in the lead the entire contest. Coming out of Millwood High in Oklahoma, Jones has definitely made his way onto my radar for top prospects I have watched this summer.

Jones has been playing at a high level for YGP 17U. The 6’8″ Forward is one of the best athletes in the state in the 2027 class. His length and energy are what set him apart on the floor. Jones is always a lob threat and runs the floor hard, beating opponents back often in transition. His energy and activity are also felt on the defensive end with his ability to alter shots and grab rebounds. Nate is also becoming more confident putting the ball on the floor, especially in fast break situations. Look for the junior to elevate that aspect of his game as the summer months continue, priming him for a huge senior season.

Jones is one of the top ascending prospects in Oklahoma, because he has a special combination of height and athleticism. His outstanding motor further helps him in his efforts, which on display with an insane putback tip in on Friday night. When he rises for alley oops and those putbacks, he seemingly is looking down into the rim. And he has long arms that also seem to reach the top of the backboard. The open spaces and pace of AAU basketball serves him well, as he has plenty of runway to take off. Still a bit wild at times when dribbling the ball, but overall seems to understand his current strengths and plays to them. Great potential as a rim runner and shot blocking threat. Will be fun to track to see how his full game develops. At the very least will likely be a priority target for regional JuCos.

Likely a name for the future more than the now. Jones transferred over mid-season from Choctaw and is getting run when Millwood blows out teams (which is quite often). And when he does, his next level athleticism allows for highlight reel dunks. Anytime a player is as tall as he is and moves like he does, he’s going to have opportunities to play at the next level. Especially with the athletic background of his family.
