Johnson took home MVP honors for the tournament champs. In the title game he made his impact felt on both ends. Shooting it well from deep and attacking the basket. Then also making a handful of defense plays, including a transition block and another time ripping the ball away from a driver. Following a football season where he won a state championship, the rust seemed apparent two weeks ago at the Mustang Holiday Classic. But based on his production last week, Johnson has found his form in time for the stretch run. Which is a good sign for the Titans, as Johnson was very impressive during grassroots season.

Consistency is key for prospects as they make the transition from potential to production. As a sophomore at Carl Albert there were growing pains, but interesting moments for the athletic wing. In every spring viewing, he’s been consistent and looks to have turned the corner. Capable of posting up and attacking mismatches. Or facing up and going by similar size/taller players. Is starting to read the game well, can hurt the defense through passing along with his scoring ability. Very well rounded wing, who is proof the talent is not running dry at traditional 5A power, Carl Albert, anytime soon.

Johnson’s impressive winter and spring continued late into Saturday night. He’s a mismatch problem, with true perimeter skills and athleticism. But the way he closed out the day was a bit of a throwback. He’s capable of posting up smaller foes. Either backing them down, then exploding by for scores at the rim. Or hitting tough turn arounds. Can also be a playmaking hub, capable of making reads and passes out of post ups. It’s becoming more and more apparent that Johnson has traits that will appeal to collegiate coaches. Will continue to rise among Oklahoma’s junior class.

Following a strong sophomore season, Johnson looks set for an even bigger summer. Was smooth and in control as an attacker. Complete with the ability to finish above the rim in traffic. Already has a good frame, which pairs well with his gilding ability to seemingly ghost by defenders on drives. All while rarely looking out of control. The framework is there for the Titan to be one of the better scorers in 2027. Very intriguing viewing of Johnson, who looks to be scratching the surface of a high ceiling.

As the season progresses, so does the exciting sophomore core for the Titans. On Thursday night Johnson was one of those sophomores to step up. Got loose for a backdoor alley oop slam in the first half. Which is a big time indication of his promising athleticism and size. Moves very well his size and age, signs that he can be an all around scorer as an upperclassman. Especially with the form and way he shoots it from the perimeter.

showed to be a lethal rebounder on both ends of the court. There were multiple times that he grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back in. He showed the ability to pass a little bit, getting some assist. Outside of this, he knocked down his free throws and made a few mid-range jumpers. On defense, he had a couple of blocks and some steals throughout the tournament.

made his presence known in the paint. He grabbed one rebound after another. Most of them were defensive rebounds, but he had a couple of offensive ones that resulted in putbacks. He flashed the ability to expand beyond the interior by knocking down a mid-range jumper, a couple of free throws, and having a good release on his three point attempts. He made some good passes that resulted in assist and was an instrumental part of his team’s game plan for a reason.
