Anytime a freshman cracks the rotation at a program like Homestead High School he is going to jump onto your radar immediately. Weaver was one of those prospects who we knew would make the rankings once we expanded from a Top 25 to a Top 50 and here he is making his debut at #42 overall. The 6’2″ guard really impressed us over the summer with his ball handling ability. He is a strong, physical guard that can serve as your primary ball handler and distributor. Look for him to be even more comfortable in the Homestead backcourt now as a sophomore.

In the last game of the weekend for Grand Park Premier 15u this 6’2″ guard really stood out. Weaver led a strong offensive flurry that included a couple of strong right-hand drives to the basket, a beautiful backdoor cut for a finish, and a catch-and-shoot shoot corner three-point shot. Weaver’s size and physicality in the backcourt, often serving as the primary ball handler, is hard for opposing defenders to handle. He was a rotation player as a freshman at Homestead High School which helps prove his abilities and upside as a prospect.

When you step in and play right away at the varsity level at Homestead it means you are a real player. We had seen Weaver some in AAU, and he stood out at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, but getting into the rotation for the Spartans as a freshman was by far the most impressive accomplishment. The 6’1″ guard is a great athlete and very effective as a slasher/driver.

It isn’t easy to crack the Homestead rotation as a freshman. The Spartans have one of the most consistent programs in the state and are coming off of a Class 4A North Semi-State appearance. However, Weaver is going to earn a bunch of minutes as a freshman. The 6’1″ guard is a great athlete, handles the ball well, and provides some versatility in the backcourt. Weaver was a standout at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.

Heady lead guard that plays at his own pace and lets the game come to him. Really good balancing scoring and facilitating as the lead guard. Capable of playing off the ball also, he was really good coming off screens and turning the corner. He was aggressive going to his right hand and using his body to create contact while finishing with a soft touch around the basket or dishing to open teammates for easy buckets.

Weaver’s older brother has matriculated through the system at Homestead High School and will play college basketball at Manchester. Now, Mason will look to step in and fight for a role with the Spartans. We have heard a lot of good things about this athletic guard and believe he can be one of the better young players in the Fort Wayne area.
