McArthur is a new name that popped for me as he plays with a level of toughness that’s easy to appreciate. He absorbed contact as he drove, finished through bodies, and even kept playing hard despite not getting the whistle. Just got back and continued competing. Those things stand out to me. Defensively, he fought over screens, took on difficult assignments, and stayed engaged, and that happened in multiple games, which lets me know that it’ll stick. Offensively, he played within the offense, used ball screens well, and made smart reads. I do want him to embrace a bit more of the lead guard role as it will open up new parts of his game, but his IQ and willingness to adapt let me know that the next time we see him, he’ll be able to add to his game.
