Smith gave us another reason to keep an eye on his development with the way he attacked the game in transition at the Showcase. He consistently looked to get out and run, creating opportunities by beating defenders down the floor and finishing plays at the rim. His willingness to push the pace gave him chances to make an impact without needing a ton of touches. The energy he brought in the open floor stood out, and we’re excited to see how that part of his game continues to develop

Smith makes his rankings debut through effort, movement, and doing the small things that earn trust. That is also what we saw from him a few months ago at the Freshman showcase. He plays on or off the ball, cuts with purpose, takes smart shots, and brings consistent energy. His production forces him onto the floor, and his feel for spacing and timing stands out. Discovery Canyon is a team I will be high on come his junior season, and his impact should grow. Declan looks like a glue piece who will continue to rise, and we want to see more of him. 

Declan Smith Declan Smith 6'2" | SG/SF Discovery Canyon | 2029 State CO is a six-foot guard who brought versatility and the willingness to do the little things. He moved smartly without the ball, cutting into gaps at the right moments ,and his teammates found him on those cuts. Smith showed strong instincts as a player who plays well off the ball and is constantly moving. He has scoring ability and creation upside, and we want to see him hunt for more scoring opportunities.
