Cain has remained a pivotal piece in the Green Level rotation as they continue to make history in their fourth-year as a high school. He’s a big reason for the Gators current push given his pedigree for defending, rebounding and distributing the basketball. He’s an unsigned senior floor general for colleges of all levels to get eyes on as he continues to run the show for Green Level in the Elite Eight of the NCHSAA 4A Playoffs. He put up six points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds in their comeback victory over Wakefield in the second round. They’ll look to play spoiler on the road this Friday against Richmond County Senior High this Friday. He’s a name to get eyes on after moving from No. 206 into the 57th spot in the final rankings update for the 2024 class.

is another deserving name on the PH stage who’s seen his stock rise since turning heads this past summer at the PH Top 250 Expo as a college prospect. has his unit playing well as he leads the charge with 4.0 APG along with 12.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 2.0 SPG. Cain has really improved on his strength in the weight room and it’s shown in his overall production on the floor on any given night. He’s due to climb up the PrepHoops radar as he’s one reason the Gators are off to a hot start. DII and DIII programs in the region should get eyes on him.

Cain is a defensive stalwart that really brings a dog-like, competitive mentality to the floor every game. He’s always hounding defenders, up in their stuff and attacking them with fast feet and quick hands. He’s a primary facilitator on offense that creates with the ball in his hands, looking for paint touches and opportunities to dish it out. Capable slasher and scorer around the paint as well.

and him. He earned Gamechanger: Top Defender with his tenacious defensive effort which made it virtually impossible for other guards to find a rhythm in the open floor. He applied pressure defensively and showed off his perimeter shooting with consistency throughout the Top 250 Expo. He worked well alongside Gibson to show he could distribute, defend and score with another talented guard. He’s emerging as a strong unsigned senior candidate for college coaches to watch as he enters his senior season at Green Level High.

Cain was relentless in his pursuit of the ball on the defensive end. Despite having just six players, he brought the energy with his ability to pressure the ball and turn steals into easy layups on the other end. As his defense came, so did his offense as he was a top performer out of Green Level High (Cary). He’s a defensive menace in the 2024 class who DII and DIII programs should get eyes on this season.

Cain showed off all sorts of toughness, defensive intensity, and playmaking ability whenever I watched him this summer, and his recruitment and ranking should receive a boost as a result. He’s definitely undersized even as a lead guard, but many coaches have told me those kinds of guards need to be scrappy, physical, and elite at something, which he checks all three boxes. His playmaking abilities are very impressive, seemingly getting every one of his teammates involved somehow and making sure he is careful and efficient with the ball. That, combined with his physicality and toughness as an on ball defender, should turn him into a college level player this upcoming year.

Cain wooed many with his performances this weekend, not having huge games but being a leader and top performer on his team. He’s explosive off the bounce, getting to the rim quickly or distributing to teammates. Also has a nice lefty stroke that kept the defense honest from deep. He gets up in your jersey a lot too on defense, showing a lot of fire and competitiveness on that end, essential traits for a college PG. His ability to keep the ball on a string and get paint touches on his own will make him a target for D2s and D3s in the area.

Leon Cain was up there with the most impressive point guards in the field this weekend. Cain keeps the ball on a string, a tight handle that rarely gets ripped. He’s skilled and creative offensively, utilized the mid-range game effectively, and had some tough finishes at the cup. From what I saw this weekend, Cain looks like the kind of guard that could thrive at the D2 level.
