Central Cabarrus (14-0)
Central Cabarrus High is 6-0 in South Piedmont Conference play heading into the second part of January. They’ve won 46 straight games and counting with Chase Daniel Chase Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC , Carson Daniel Carson Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC and Desmond Kent Jr Desmond Kent Jr 6'5" | SF Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC . leading the way as a few key names to know. While their trio of seniors are committed to programs at the next level, senior forward Joshua Dalton Joshua Dalton 6'9" | PF NC remains an available name on the board in their rotation. He’s producing 16.1 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 2.4 BPG as a new face in their rotation this season. Emari Russell Emari Russell 5'10" | SG Central Cabarrus | 2025 State NC is emerging in their backcourt as a junior name to get to know. The 5-foot-10 point guard is posting 9.6 PPG, 3.1 APG and 2.6 SPG. With a strong cast of names, it’ll be tough to see the Vikings losing in conference play. They’ll be on the road Friday night when they travel to face Lake Norman Charter in SPC action.
South Stokes (13-0)
South Stokes High has been a team to watch on the 1A stage in the Northwest Conference. They’re led by Barry Hairston Barry Hairston 6'2" | CG South Stokes | 2024 State NC and Isiah Lash Isiah Lash 6'5" | SF South Stokes | 2024 State NC , a dynamic unsigned senior duo who look prime for a run in the state playoffs already. Lash recently surpassed the 1,000-point mark on the road in the Sauras’ road victory against East Wilkes on Wednesday night. He put up 28 points and eight rebounds while Hairston posted 17 points and six assists. Hairston surpassed the 1,000-point plateau back on Dec. 21 against Mount Tabor in a victory. 2026 Brady Clark Brady Clark 5'10" | PG South Stokes | 2026 NC and 2025 Korrin N’Diaye Korrin N’Diaye 6'0" | CG South Stokes | 2025 NC are emerging as new faces to know for them. Clark has proven to be a versatile guard presence after posting 12 points, five rebounds and four assists while N’Diaye finished with 11 points and six rebounds in the backcourt. They’re a group to keep an eye on as they face Mount Tabor in another nonconference matchup. They won the first meeting in the Frank Spencer Invitational back on Dec. 21.
Davie (13-0)
Davie High is another squad at 13-0 that’s lurking in the NCHSAA, though, they’re in the 4A ranks in the Central Piedmont Conference. The War Eagles have gotten strong production out of juniors Jackson Powers Jackson Powers 6'6" | PF Davie | 2025 State NC and Bryson Mickey Bryson Mickey 6'0" | CG Davie | 2025 NC . Powers has been quite the presence in the painted area as he’s averaging a double-double with 14.8 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 2.1 BPG and 1.7 SPG on 40 percent shooting from deep. He’s shown he can stretch the floor with his shooting at 6-foot-6 while also battling on the interior. Mickey has shown he can make his presence felt on the perimeter as a big guard with 13.4 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 3.5 APG and 1.2 SPG while shooting 42 percent from the perimeter. He leads the team with 29 3-pointers as the midseason point passes. Unsigned senior Coleman Lawhon Coleman Lawhon 6'1" | CG Davie | 2024 State NC remains an effective piece in their rotation. He’s posted 9.7 PPG, 5.1 APG, 4.5 RPG and 2.9 SPG as an all-around presence in their rotation. He’s slowly becoming a name for DII and DIII programs to get to know given his gamesmanship. They’ll face Parkland High at home on Friday night as they look to remain unbeaten in CPC play and on the season. West Forsyth High lurks as the other unbeaten in CPC action at 3-0 as well.
Green Level (13-0)
Green Level High is the last of the NCHSAA 4A squads who are already 13-0 heading into their conference schedule. Juniors Isaac Ericksen Isaac Ericksen 6'8" | SF Green Level | 2025 State NC and Israel Eatman Israel Eatman 6'4" | CG Green Level | 2025 State NC are leading the bulk of the scoring charge while unsigned senior Leon Tye Cain III Leon Tye Cain III 5'10" | PG Green Level | 2024 State NC leads the way in the assists department. Ericksen is averaging 17.3 PPG, 8.7 RPG and 2.3 APG while Eatman is posting 12.8 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.5 APG and 1.5 SPG on 44 percent shooting from behind the arc. Cain is dishing out a team-high 3.6 APG while still producing 10.8 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 1.8 SPG. He isn’t the only unsigned senior playing strong either. Trey Manhertz Trey Manhertz 6'6" | PF Green Level | 2024 State NC is playing big around the rim with 6.3 PPG and 6.3 RPG in the frontcourt. They’re in prime position to take home their first SWAC regular season crown after defeating Holly Springs High, 60-51 on Thursday night. They’ll host Green Hope on Monday then take on Garner High in the Garner MLK Showcase on Monday in their final non-conference game.
New Hanover (11-0)
New Hanover High is at the top of the NCHSAA 4A ranks once again with a strong cast of juniors. Rodmik Allen Rodmik Allen 5'10" | PG New Hanover | 2025 State NC has done well to lead the charge in the backcourt, posting 16.8 PPG, 5.6 APG, 3.8 RPG and 3.1 SPG in a breakout junior campaign. He’s shooting 49 percent from the field and 33 percent from deep. Junior forward Nolan Billings Nolan Billings 6'5" | PF New Hanover | 2025 State NC has been able to show off his versatility as well with 12.2 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 2.1 APG and 1.8 SPG. Zeus Batts Zeus Batts 5'10" | PG New Hanover | 2025 State NC has been their leader on the defensive end, averaging 3.1 SPG along with 7.7 PPG and 1.9 RPG. CJ Kornegay CJ Kornegay 6'5" | SF New Hanover | 2025 State NC has been a solid new addition to their rotation as he’s pouring in 11.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG and 1.5 APG on 68 percent shooting from the floor in the lineup. Parker Crittenden Parker Crittenden 6'3" | SG New Hanover | 2024 State NC has been another solid addition with a team-high 17 3-pointers on 41 percent shooting from behind the arc. The Wildcats are 4-0 in the Mideastern Conference along with rival Laney High, who they’ll face on Friday night on the road.
Hickory (11-0)
Izaiah Littlejohn Izaiah Littlejohn 6'5" | SF Hickory | 2024 State NC , John Holbrook John Holbrook 6'8" | PF Hickory | 2024 State NC and Jamien Little Jamien Little 6'1" | SG Hickory | 2025 State NC are the leading names to know for the Hickory High Red Tornadoes as they’re 11-0 in the 3A ranks and currently unbeaten at 2-0 in the Western Foothills Conference with a meeting coming up against North Iredell on Friday night. Littlejohn has proven he can hold his own attacking off the bounce while Holbrook has shown he can be a burden in the painted area. Little has come on strong in his junior season, producing 9.7 PPG while Littlejohn has led the way with 13.1 PPG and Holbrook is right behind him with 12.5 PPG. While the trio have been the double-figure scorers in the bunch, they’ve got some depth in their wheelhouse that could carry them in the state playoffs this season. They’re another unbeaten to keep an eye on as the season moves along.
Reidsville (10-0)
Reidsville High was last year’s runner-up in the NCHSAA 2A State Championship game and they’ve already taken down Farmville Central in this year’s John Wall Holiday Invitational as they remain unbeaten headed into Mid-State Conference action. Dionte Neal Dionte Neal 5'10" | PG Reidsville | 2026 State NC , Kendre Harrison Kendre Harrison 6'8" | C Reidsville | 2026 State NC and Johnniyus Sharpe Johnniyus Sharpe 6'2" | CG Reidsville | 2025 State NC have looked virtually unstoppable with Neal posting 20.6 PPG, Sharpe with 18.4 PPG and Harrison at 17.0 PPG. Neal leads the way in assists per game with 10.3 while Harrison is at 14.7 RPG and 2.8 BPG. Sharpe has been strong in the rebounding department (6.0 RPG) and has shown he can still make plays for others (2.6 APG) while remaining a prime defender (2.0 SPG). They’ll be a tough out by the time the playoffs arrive and their role players figure things out as they have thus far. They’ll face West Stokes on the road Friday night then face Burlington Christian Academy in their final nonconference game on the slate.
