Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Edwards is a player whom I have seen play a few times, and I want to see more of. The player we saw at the end of the season gave Denver East a chance. He was aggressive, he finished well at the basket, and he was a paint beast who kept plays alive. Edwards sets screens and rolls, had great hand-eye coordination, and would catch it and go up, and was not afraid to use his body. We were present for two of his biggest games of the season. A battle against Rangeview and Regis Groff, and he was the difference-maker in those games, as his size was too much; he got inside and used his size and was a force on the block. Consistency will be the next step in his development, as when he’s on, he’s on. But he needs to keep it on. We want to see more from him but he also rose in the rankings.

Edwards delivered a powerful inside presence with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, proving just how dominant a big can be when he plays with purpose. He established position early, finished strong through contact and made defenders pay in the paint. His ability to score consistently inside forces defenses to collapse, creating opportunities for shooters on the perimeter. Edwards is able to battle on the glass, while remaining active and instinctual for steals on the defensive end. When a big man can protect the paint, generate turnovers and be a reliable scoring option inside, he becomes the anchor that keeps his team steady and tough to beat

Edwards is really starting to come into his own, and the team is in a really good stretch as we finish up league play. He’s coming off a career-best 22-point performance against Vista Peak, and we’ve been seeing him start to show these glimpses since league play began. He rebounds and has stepped into the big man role. He runs the floor, finishes in traffic, and uses this motor to outwork opponents, and that is progress from the beginning of the season. East has built some chemistry, and Landon has been a glue guy who has kept the team going. Solid season for him, and he’s now firmly on our radar.

Edwards plays with toughness and purpose, consistently getting to his spots on the floor and creating scoring opportunities. He showed confidence stepping out to knock down big three pointers, stretching defenses and forcing opponents to guard him closely beyond the arc. Edwards is a rising prospect on a talent rich Denver East squad. Last season he offered glimpses of the player he’s capable of becoming—flashing athleticism, quickness, and a strong competitive edge. Offensively he moves well without the ball, using sharp cuts and smart timing to find open looks. He’s capable of putting the ball on the deck and attacking the lane with strength and control, finishing through contact when he gets to the rim. Defensively is where Edwards truly separated himself. He brings relentless intensity, showing no hesitation in taking on tough assignments. His lateral quickness allows him to stay in front of his man and position himself to disrupt plays. Edwards is a player whose impact extends well beyond the box score and one to watch closely as he continues to develop

has injected another physical presence into this group’s rotation. A wiry forward who can pop when needed or operate around the rim following a cut. Carving out his niche well, he is an effective decision maker when it comes to shot selection, certainly someone capable of more opportunity over the coming seasons. What makes him so valuable this season is the defensive versatility should either of East’s starting forwards get into foul trouble, comfortable taking on difficult matchups if needed.
